Re: Heart of the Phoenix
This is the all-purpose macro that I use for pet healing and reviving. #showtooltip /cast [mod:shift]Heart of the Phoenix; [@pet,dead][@pet,noexists]Revive Pet; Mend Pet You can just copy that and paste directly into the WoW macro creator. The macro should act like this: 1) Cast Heart of the Phoenix...

Re: Grrr sometimes you just want to pull your hair out
As another Beast Master I get that reaction frequently as well. I practice a lot, I make an effort to always bring the right pets for the job, I manage my aggro, and I won't set foot in an instance without making certain I understand the important tactics. So I think I play pretty well, all things c...

Re: What's in a Name?
So I have Capsaican the worgen hunter with burning ambition, and her loyal companions: Blazorback the torched battleboar, Coruscat the shimmering Pogeyan cougar, Mongrill the branded plaguehound, Charantula the lava spider, Incinsect the firefly, Roxidize the Tanaris fire roc, Croastacean the Blast...

Re: What's in a Name?
My main hunter doesn't have a stable theme other than "pets I like." Neither do her pets have a particular naming theme. I try to just pick something that fits the animal in some way, or if the beast in question comes with its own name (because it was a named quest mob/rare spawn) I in mos...

How about a Silithid with a broken brain case ? Look pretty dead to me--and unquestionably not a mammal! http://www.wow-petopia.com/images/skin_thumbs/silithidtankbossskindamaged_differentt.jpg You could also maybe consider a ghostly Jormungar . http://www.wow-petopia.com/images/skin_thumbs/jormunga...

Re: Confused
Crocolisks at least were given the basilisk model and yes, they are amphibious, both of them can only be found in water but crocs were designed with the wholly pure intention to tame. Hydras were not. Hydras have poor animations for life as a pet rather then a npc. Just pointing out that Blizzard d...

Re: Confused
Eh, the fact their entire body is designed to look like a water dwelling animal and at least, my past lore with them in other refrences has me calling them aquatic. I know they are amphibious but i just really find it akward to have hydras running around trying to keep up with their hunter buddy (b...

Re: 4.1: Ant Silithids
Cool news, but I'll be pretty disappointed if they're actually intended to shrink as much as that teal Hazzali Worker. I love how enormous my Silithid Swarmer pal Charger is! For a Tauren hunter it's tough to find a pet that feels really imposing and bulky, you know? They all seem diminutive. My ant...

Re: Fire Boar?
Just had an interesting idea..not sure if anyone has tried this but...since the fire is a buff...has anyone tried dragging another beast over to be burned? If that works...seems you could have anything in mulgore as a flaming pet. Lion...lioness...Tallstrider...wolf...coyote..vulture Ive not tried ...

Re: Servers are UP early w/ 4.0.6 (2-8-2011 @ 11:31AM CST)
Picked up Pogeyan the glossy Stranglethorn cat at 16:10 server time on Dentarg. Then at 16:30 I was wandering around the zone and happened to run past the new crocolisc, Mahamba. I did a /who of the area and was about to start asking the nearby hunters if anyone wanted to tame him, but unfortunately...

Re: Abandon Pet Macro Question
I have not been able to get an abandon macro to work for taming any of the special appearance buff pets. I tried it on the blue-pawed Iceclaw bears as well as the firey boars from Mulgore and was not able to successfully retain the special effect on either, despite upwards of 20 or 30 tries each.

Re: Taming named mobs
I almost always retain named mobs' names after taming them because I think of that as the animal's "canon" name. I think of specially named beasts as being pointed out by Blizzard as specific characters in the game world, and when my hunter tames one, my hunter has that individual animal f...

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
I finally had time this evening to do my random pet challenge! My assignment was to tame a Black Monkey . My Tauren hunter journeyed far south, down to the cape of Stranglethorn Vale, in search of her target: a Skymane Bonobo . As far as I'm aware this is the only non-color-changing black monkey ava...

This seems like a fun idea! Can I queue for a random assignment too? Name: Eiderdown Level: 82 Exotic families: OK Special restrictions: Nothing that's only available on the PTR (such as the new green Evalcharr chimaera). I don't know if PTR exclusives are even an option, but just in case. :) Thanks!

Re: Undead Hunter Pets
I agree with the carrion bird idea--it seems kind of fitting for a vulture to want to follow a walking corpse around. :D Maybe hoping some tasty bits will fall off during combat... I'd also like to suggest Winna's Kitten, the plague-warped cat: http://www.wow-petopia.com/images/skin_thumbs/tigerskin...

Re: PTR, Deterrence, And You
Well, Terrorpene's attack isn't physical. I'm not completely positive what it would do to that. I could be wrong as I haven't personally attempted taming Terrorpene yet, but since Deterrence is supposed to also give 100% chance for spells to be deflected, I'd expect that it should indeed be useful ...

... I'm a little aggravated that I can't name my Grim Totem Spirit Guide after Sirius, the dog star (since I don't happen to know of any wolf stars XD)... I don't know about individual stars, but there is certainly a wolf constellation ! I fully agree, though, that the "sir" string restri...
