Re: The War Within Beta - Beasts Thread
Clearly, the family was renamed so we can tame kangaroos. It's the only logical answer.

Re: The War Within Beta - Beasts Thread
No new models, but a new development; the Toad family has been renamed to "Hopper"! A good name for all hopping amphibians. You can't throw items at them to store into a connected chest, but you can count on them hopping into your hearts with their new family name.

Are you certain it does not retain the spectral appearance? For example, have you set it against two contrasting background elements (wall and open sky, for example)? Regardless, it's neat to see that skin used on something other than a rare.

God I'm so jealous. I love bug testing games, but not having access to these beautiful zones so I can find and report those exploits without fear of being banned for reporting exploits is pain. It's like looking at those "Wish You Were Here" postcards.

Re: The War Within Beta - Beasts Thread
Poor Wain's gonna get sick of looking at beasts one day if Blizzard keeps this up lol. Can't wait for the Spinda of WoW pets, where it has 4,294,967,296 different looks. Petopia could totally use a built-in model viewer though. Save Wain a hell of a lot of work that way lol.

Re: The War Within Beta - Beasts Thread
Sorry for my long silence, but I've finally catalogued all the new model looks for The War Within. So far, there are over 630 possible looks, including all possible geoset options! If you want to see them in a rough state, I have a very rough first draft of a TWW looks page: https://www.wow-petopia...

Re: 10.2.5 Beasts Thread
From what I recall, we didn't start with our racial pets when the PTR was up. Could change on live, but every hunter had the same generic pets.

Re: The War Within Beta - Beasts Thread
Worth noting is that we got clear druid forms for the Kul Tirans as well, prior to them being made an allied race. Harronir are very likely on the table, but more importantly, I hope the pattern follows and we see a bear, cat, and ground travel form soon. Imagine bat bears, bat cats, and bat... uh.....

Crocolisks deserve a new model, and this one looks so good. Shame the coin texture is baked on, but there's hope at least!

Re: 10.2.5 Beasts Thread
It turns out Wain forgot to update Nahqi's entry now that we know for a fact how to tame it. Someone over on the Secret Finders discord said Petopia wasn't helpful in regards to taming it, and when I looked, it still shows the text "Unfortunately, we currently don't know how to tame her, though...

Re: Bargast, Margore and Hecutis tamability in 11.00.
Unless the devs go against the pattern of waiting for two expansions between when they appear and the current expansion, we won't see them tameable until the expansion after The War Within. The War Within comes after Shadowlands and Dragonflight, meaning the next expansion that is likely to get a ta...

Re: The War Within Beta - Beasts Thread
I would assume they're covering hunter pets. Would be funny if they missed a spider and someone freaked out over it. That'll be something to keep an eye out for when more of us can actually play the alpha/beta. I wonder how many people are not actually testing content, and are just tourists who thin...

Re: Which pet should Dracthyr Hunters start with?
I think they'd start with a Vorquin too. It's TECHNICALLY a lesser dragonkin, but not strictly one. Hornswogs would definitely be a funnier choice, but I feel like they'd just use a stag pet. It's the safest option. Of course, they could just be oddballs and have something totally random. Keep in mi...

Re: The War Within Beta - Beasts Thread
The largest thing (that people have shown being tamed so far, at least) is the unicorn, but we all knew that thing would be large since it's a horse that was hit with the ugly shovel a few times. I'm sure the big boys are hiding underground in future tests.

Re: The War Within Beta - Beasts Thread
It was already in the database that they were tameable (as toads, oddly enough), but having confirmation that they are intended to be tamed makes me happy.

Re: The War Within Beta - Beasts Thread
It's only day one, and we haven't had a taming pass. We haven't tied Wain to a flaming pyre yet either so he can work his magic and convince the devs to throw us a bone. Still got months to go; old content will be touched up...hopefully. Also, don't forget pandaria beavers, what with remix giving us...

Re: The War Within Beta - Beasts Thread
The mudskippers are a special breed. They really do have fun animations. They're so lively and active with literally everything, and their death animation absolutely trumps the one the rocket chickens have (at least for me). As for the unicorns, courser would make the most sense, but horses and deer...
