I'm jealous of your community tank, Nilli! It looks gorgeous. I'd love to see some more of your fish.
I just have a little 10 gallon and my two "starter" fish (Plain brown feeder fish) are still in it. I'd have gotten new fish, but I really don't want to kill the poor feeders and they refuse to kick the bucket, so I'll just stick with them for a while.
We used to have a very large community tank though. Loved that thing.

As for Betta life spans, yeah, that can live quite some time. I think we've kept a couple (solitary males usually) that lived 2-4 years, in temperature controlled tanks. (Well, jars really. Large fish ones.)

Ack sorry for not replying for so long.
Our filter got over-run, so we spent a good month or so clearing our water and finally did.

We're going to introduce some new fish either this weekend or next weekend. I've decided to leave our two ladies without a male companion, so no more male fighters for me. They're gorgeous, but they don't live very long with me. :(

So our two cats are behaving like little angels lately.

Can you guys believe someone abandoned this poor lil fella? I can't. He's so..let's just say he lives up to his name <3

So damn cute <3 ive discovered a LOT about betta fish from reading everything (ive had a couple in my time but i was young and inexperienced and never knew how to properly care for them but no one taught me and i never thought that one should research before taking in an animal) and it sounds like Cupid was a real favorite. Precious and Princess are so gorgeous and so funny XD They definitely look laid back, especially Precious. He looks like he gets into loads of mischief too XD Reminds me a lot of Lucky. By nature from his ragdoll genetics he was more laid back then i have experienced in most cats ive encountered, letting me wear him like a scarf or hold out my hand as if i was gonna push him over and him suddenly flopping to his side with a thump and then bitching at me to give him belly rubs

He was an amazing cat.. Janie is an amazing cat. She's really bouncy and active and energetic which im still struggling with but she at least gives me an ample amount of sleep before she pounces on my pillows or chest and drops her toys at my head and demands playtime. (She woke me up in the morning by dragging her toy mouse to the side of my head and yowled in my ear). I wish i could get a little of your Precious' personality (not the wall and curtain scratching part tho! Stepdad would declaw the poor thing so fast you wouldnt even know it :<) and replace a little of Janie's hyperness so shes a little more mellow and easier to snuggle XD I miss having a snuggle buddy.

I'm sure she'll come out of her shell around you soon enough. I know Princess is, she's sleeping with me in bed now where she would seclude herself before.

Here's a photo of Precious that I absolutely love.

This is all my cats do all day.
They used to want to play with me and cuddle with me, but as of lately all they do is find a quiet place to sleep...

Princess reminds me of some of my sister's cats. I believe she is a tuxedo siamese?

I am almost tempted to buy bettas again. It's been over a year since my last one died. She was able to live nearly 3 years. Problem is my turtle already has the aquarium.

I honestly had no idea there was a kind of reverse siamese, I just googled it..and yes... yes she is. Explains her ''googly'' eyes she does at my husband as a siamese I had when I was younger used to have those great big expressive charming googly eyes. Of course, upon further research they're not related at all.. but still those eyes! Cannot deny them!:)

I'm thinking of getting another male fighter to put in with our ladies as well as some more platties to go with our orphaned baby platty ''Hope''. I'm unsure though as I love them but I've only felt guilty when they die.. :S

I had a nightmare our pleco, Diablo, died and rushed downstairs to check on him. I'd be devastated if he died, he's like my puppy fish thing that comes to greet me as he wiggles the plants around :P

I was thinking another word for her which would be penguin siamese, which sounds about right, too, but my sister taught me about the tuxedo siamese. I am tempted to show a couple pics of them. My sister has a mom and her grown-up son. The mom was not used to me at first for a while, but after playing her toy with her once, she instantly loved me. The mom is very playful and usually wins while playing with her own kid. It's her kid that is more shy.

This is the mom.
Image
...and here's her kid.
Image

The difference between both, although you can't see the kid's paws, one of the mom's front paws looks more like a glove than a mitten. Her left paw. Size between the two is a huge difference, too.

Here's a small story, the mom was previously owned by someone that obviously didn't care for cats. Why they wanted a cat to begin with, I dunno. My sister told me they made her wear a collar, which was so tight on her neck she lost fur on her neck. Then, one day, the mom and her kittens were completely forgotten by that family. The mom did have more than one kitten, but the kid in the second picture is the only one that looks like her, which is why my sister kept him and had the others be adopted. My sister has the good heart in feeding stray cats (some of which were owned before) outside her front door and whenever they have grown towards humans again and she can vaccinate them if they are not already ill, she gives them up for adoption. This was how the mom and her kittens were found. My sister called the other family that she found their cats (she found out their info through the collar), which they ended up going "What cats? I don't own no cats." Since then, the two have had a new family and a new life, as well as the other kittens.

Too bad I can't keep cats. Once I live on my own, and I can find a bigger home for my birds where the cats can't get to them, I will adopt a kitty. However, I honestly wished more cats can stay as kittens; kittens are about the cutest things ever. Your Precious as a kitten was just too adorable.

Aw bless, what a sad story with a happy ending. They seem content and fluffy :D

I love kittens, but I also love watching them grow. Watching Precious go from the sick weak kitten he was to the strong, stalker tiger-cat he is now..is just the best thing in the world. To think if I hadn't gone to pick him up he'd be dead now. Poor lil fella

I often think about what would have happened to my two kitties if the humane society hadn't found them as strays, and it makes me feel very honored that I had the opportunity to give them a better life. :) Makes me wish I could adopt a lot more than just two.

My sister has six cats, four of which came from outside as abandoned strays. Only problem is once you've grown attached to an animal, you just can't see them go away even if to another loving owner.

But you can do what my sister is doing to provide a bigger heart for these poor animals trying to survive.
