No, it's not permanent. It's a one day protest, a strike. You can read more on the links provided on the Blackout page.

Will the blackout affect the forums or just the main site?

If you read the link, I believe it's every site that Mania hosts (which would include these forums) going down to act out against these legislatiions. Or at least, I'm assuming the forums are going down, but I might be wrong.

I encourage everyone against these atrocities to visit Google and click their link to sign their petition against SOPA and PIPA.

I didn't know Mania ran one of those sites. Now I have disturbing images of Mania with a whip and clamps.

If this law goes through, I think I'm done with the internet and I'm going back to reading paper books for entertainment like I used. This law will ruin almost everything I love about the internet. I signed as well. Screw this law. Its complete BS.

This law is just another thing the American's are trying to act like they own. First they act like they own the world and now the interwebs.

Pretty ignorant thing to say, especially considering the majority (meaning, every single one) of Americans I know are against these bills.

No it's not. I mainly was talking about the government and they truely act like they own the world.

You didn't say the government though, you said "Americans" which implies that we all act like we're trying to own the world and the interwebs.

You can't judge us Americans that way, and quite frankly, I'm kind of offended you want to come into this thread and imply things like that. That's not what this thread is for. I'm sure it wouldn't feel very nice if we decided to start attacking New Zealand either. America may not be perfect, but we don't need to start this kind of open flaming on these forums so I'd appreciate it if we'd deviate the topic away from it now.

I dont know whats going on about the bill now but the news updates my phone gets lead me to a internet page saying that the support behind the bill is wavering badly and its starting to retreat or something like that, which is good. And i noticed that i wrote 'pain' instead of 'main' when i was inquiring if the forums would go down as well XD
