For anyone that wants to get a head start download on the Beta (this does NOT allow you to play if you don't have an invite yet, it simply lets you start downloading the client ahead of time). This is the URL for Windows US:

If anyone's scared by the edgesuite part, I assure you it's legit. It's a content delivery network used by Blizzard for their large patch releases.

Once you download that, you have to rename the file from "WoW-5.0.0-Beta-enUS-Installer.exe" to "World of Warcraft Beta Setup.exe".

OMG on the new icons and such for the game, there is one that says "pet-type-dragon.png" O_O Are we getting DRAGONS!?!?

It probably refers to minipets.

Though there's no reason that non-sentient types of dragonkin (like protodrakes) couldn't also be considered beasts. Well they really are just beasts that happen to be related to dragons. But it seems less likely to me that they'll go that way.

Some are labeled as Beasts the white/diseased ones in Storm Peaks if I recall.

Could be. The only reason I am thinking it may be pets is because the ones they have are; "Beast, Critter, Dragon, Elemental, Flying, Humanoid, Magical, Mechanical, Undead, and Water"

So it is possible it is for minipets, but I could also see them maybe renaming the classification of hunter pets? Maybe has to do with Warlock/Mage/DK pets too?

Guess we will find out soon. (Hopefully)

Thanks Veph, downloading it now. Do we know how to get WMV working for it or does it work right away? Perhaps a link to which one works... I get so confused around WMV rofl.

Im gonna download it now, havent gotten the invite but i did sign up in november and my sub is still actively recurring so i should get it within a day at most if they're pumping them out tonight

Dammit it says my internet connection isnt working, it wont let me install.

I'm not too concerned over the speed of the download. I'll just let it finish tonight. I think if we were to get invites we would have had them by now, so perhaps tomorrow or later in the week.

Ooooh, i thought i had to install it and then rename it, not download it and then install *goes off to try it*

im thinking of putting the fan on and have it face my computer and leave it overnight. The fan will keep it cool so i wont have to worry about anything getting too hot while i sleep
