Hunter PvP
Well, maybe it's just me, but it seems the quality of my PvP has waned the higher level I've gotten. I mean, I die so fast I hardly get to do anything >.< I did more damage when I hid in the bushes and sent my spirit leopard (Skytear) out and cast pet spells on him. O_O and it's not just BM, I tried my second talents SV and still sucked. -.- However, I can do a pretty decent battle in Warsong Gulch, although this may be because I'm so used to it. (I took the flag. Twice.) In other battles though, I get horribly mauled.
Just wondering if any of you guys have had a similar experience.
BTW it's why my sigg says that below ^_^ no offense to you Horde hunters, I'm just trying to be Alliance-ey. If that's even a word. Which it's not.

Re: Hunter PvP
Tbh expect it if you don't have PvP gear or no healers in your BG's
I normally do some on my Hunter with either a Holydin or my Priest friend, I have 0 PvP gear but they can keep me alive till about 5 of them nuke me down as BM. Again you said your more used to WSG then the other BG's I myself don't like the new ones that much so I do make a few mistakes in them, Im not all yey PvP on my Hunter Im more into healing for PvP (just more fun to me tbh) But you will see as you build up your PvP gear you'll be able to take a better beating :3

Re: Hunter PvP
Yeah, thx, lately been trying to get my PvP gear up, but I'm not sure what to pick, it's always a choice, "Woah that is A LOT of armor for mail, holy cow! But look at my armor now, if I use this It takes away a bunch of agility... :/"
Maybe I need to do some research ^_^

Re: Hunter PvP
I've got something like 3.5k resilience and I still occasionally get face-rolled so don't feel bad D:
Re: Hunter PvP
PvP gear is somewhat frustrating because it DOES sacrifice your damage/healing/whatever in the name of Not Getting Instagibbed All The Time. And as a hunter, if you're good at hanging out in the back of a crowd you can much more frequently get away with not needing resilience as badly in a battleground. I'd definitely say that if you're sticking to battlegrounds, skip the crafted PvP gear unless you lack good (well-itemized 346+) PvE gear for the slot.
That said... all that itemization "wasted" on resilience becomes very, very, very nice once you get enough of it. To get a super-rough ballpark of how much damage resilience knocks off, take whatever your rating is, drop the tens and ones places, and that's in the zip code of your damage reduction percentage. (2,000 resil is somewhere around 20% damage reduction, +/- 5%; 3k is around 30% =/-5%, etc.) Resilience is less useful until you get healing, but if you can sweet-talk a healer into rumbling around with you, it quickly becomes one of the most awesome stats you can have on your gear, as it turns your health bar into a BAR, not just a binary "am I alive y/n" state. Conversely, no resilience + healer who wants to heal you = frustration and rage. Don't do it!
After that you just have to get good at the dos and don'ts of PvP combat. If you know any friends who are decent to good at PvPing, ask them for tips! A lot of it is universal; the parts that aren't are easy to learn by asking your non-Hunter friends what they hate about Hunters, and then doing that.
I'd wish you luck, but I can't bear the idea of letting the Alliance win, so I'll just grumble something and go kill the other elves first.
(Or rather tell my friends to kill 'em while I heal everyones' butts off. Aaah, the joys of druids.)

Re: Hunter PvP
Adding something--THERE IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL
Survivability with proper gear is actually extremely good, although cooldown-based so you have to know how to play it properly. Not saying you don't--just saying that comparing survivability of a hunter to other classes is somewhat hard, as instead of simply healing/absorbing dmg, we have to correctly time our cds and proactively stop the enemy from dealing damage in the first place.
I can't speak for the other specs, but as Beast Mastery, this char is one of the most PvP-survivable I've ever played. My Disengage is on a 16 second cd, reduced when I'm hit; with BW I have 2 PvP trinkets, plus Entrapment as a root, constant Concussive as a snare and Feign as a target drop/casting interrupt, along with Scatter & Intimidation for the same. Plus Deterrance
For now, any piece of gear with more resilience = upgrade. Once you hit a resilience of about 3k, look for damage upgrades--a PvP set with a couple PvE pieces for example. That said, end-game PvP gear currently hits quite hard.
(Note: I say 3k because come 4.1, there will be some resilience changes to push people toward that mark regardless of which side of it they're on; I'd get 3k, wait for the patch and then see from there!)
The ONLY problem I currently have with Hunter PvP is traps--specifically freezing. Getting it to actually WORK on the right target when you want it to is frustrating at best.

Re: Hunter PvP
What part of Bestial Wrath makes it work like a PvP trinket anymore? o_O They took that ability away, it's nothing more than a 10 second damage increase.

Re: Hunter PvP
Nope, still breaks CC.
It doesn't make you Immune for the duration anymore, though.
(Edit--also, I should add that it DOES make your PET immune to *some* cc for the duration.)

I think I might've figured out my problem O_o
I haven't seen any items with "Resilience" before. -.- I believe they cost Honor Points in Old Town SW?

Re: Hunter PvP
Just a little advice all hunters should do already....take advantage of the terrain especially when dealing with paladins warriors and rogues.

Re: Hunter PvP
Got some little advice from a friend; Disengage alot on pallies (he's prot), use lots of slowing effects on warriors (dunno what he is), and do lots of damage all-at-once on priests (he's shadow.)
Does this sound like good advice?

All good advice when facing all classes, actually.

Re: Hunter PvP
hello Litlemouse the term i use and other horde toons use is ally (ah-l-ee) or multiples allys or allies (ah-l-ee-z)
and the horde equivilent is hordies or hordi (Whore-Deez) (Whore-Dee) and i always say that the allys only purpose is to have something for the horde to kill to break the boredom on my realm allys can only solve problems in packs i have a 60 toon doin my hellfire pvp quest get the three bases so i get killed by two allies and i try again so they amke it impossible so i get on a 70 so they get on 75s and so i get on an 83 and they get on their 2+ 85s see what i mean i know offtopic but another reason i wont play alliance(aside from a few dks on diff realms) is the npcs are too nice and they just tell u to knock it off if ya mess with em if u mess with a horde npc they will threatebn to kill u or call you insane or idiotic thats why i choose the horde cuz its more extreme also i prefer the color scheme more then alliance(love da worgens tho) the horde an alliance trade blows all the time and everyone goes for me in bgs also were not squishy but were useless in combat.
horde cant exist without the allys and vice versa, my main spec is bm and offspec is survival i stay bm usually cuz i like my exotics, dont wanna go dry on focus and cuz its fun i do 6-8k in heroics usually with 3 or so heroic pieces of gear just wanted to share that with ya

Re: Hunter PvP
That may be the single longest run-on sentence I have EVER seen
And yeah, regarding the bursting down shadowpriests--you may find you need to purge them a bit first, if they're standing around with bubbles and ten thousand buffs (say in a bg). Protip: you can freeze someone and them spam a few tranquilizing shots on them, then reopen with a cobra/steady to get back some focus before the trap breaks.

Re: Hunter PvP
BM PVP is were its at. i love PVP, pick a pet that suits you (me is nuramoc a Chimera, love that constant slow) and go at it.
bestial wrath does break CC but does not prevent CC as you can be CC'd along with ur pet while it is active.
the sheer bursting power of BM is downright nasty, in a good way.
kite kite kite, and kite some more warriors, DKs, rogues, and pallys are all sooooo easy to kite, keep them slowed and just backpedal with aspect of the fox. if they charge you just disengage (crouching tiger, hidden chimera is a life saver in pvp). and lay traps espesially when you have the 4 sec snare talent.
scatter shot. absolute awsomesauce attack, it will interupt, and disorientate them, use it on casters every chance you get.
word of the wise tho. a GOOD pvp dk will know to use your pet as a health pool for themselfs while you kite (heartstrike i think it is?) so it may be better to keep your pet off them.

Re: Hunter PvP
ya took me awhile to figure out why couldent best my guildmate in duels for the life of me, came to find out as i healed my pet, he was refilling his heath off my pet lol. after i found that out i just had my pet use its slow(25yrd range) and then passived it and repeated when the slow wore off. pwned him then
, he hasnt been able to beat me since.
but luckly for us, for every 1 GOOD DK there are like 500 bad ones (no offence but its true!!!, like most classes) so ya wont run into the problem to often.
