Legion cooking...

Unread post by Wain »

Has anyone else been getting frustrated with grown-up Nomi in Legion?

I don't know who created this but I saw it on Twitter and I think it's the funniest thing I've seen in weeks...

Even devs agree Nomi would burn cereal if it was entrusted to him.

At first I thought it was neat that Nomi was all grown up, even if he did seem to go from being maybe 5-10 years old to an adult in like 3 years. Then I discovered how annoying he is cooking-wise. I hit the button to start all the cooking orders I could for one type of ingredient one day and ended up with 5 soulbound un-sellable copies of the same recipe and about 30 tons of burnt food.

I should've known better than to trust him. All those times he told me he was growing a beard and now that he's an adult, he's clean shaven! Well, the panda equivalent of being clean shaved anyway

He grew a beard. Then he burned it off.

That... actually makes sense! XD

From reading all the horror stories about him though, looks like I'm not going to level up cooking this expansion, since Blizzard is apparently adamant about making him burn food till the end of Legion.

Swear to God I'm going to find the biggest, bluntest wooden stake I can find and just hammer it right into Nomi's heart if he doesn't start producing anything more than badly burnt food for me.

Yeah, it's rather silly. I think it's one of those cases where the designer focussed on the desired statistical outcome and not how absurd it would look story-wise :P

So question.

Do you have to do his quests to learn Legion cooking?

Sorry but y'all are making me nervous to even bother doing his quests but I really want to learn Legion noms. My pets won't eat anything but a home cooked meal now!

You know, what they should have done instead of burnt food? When he fails, he gives you a subpar dish, like vendor food, or food from a recipe you already know. At least he'd be cooking then, instead of incinerating things. And that little table with the nicely presented food wouldn't be such a lie! After all, I can summon child-Nomi with his cooking bell and he gives me food. MoP food, but it's food every time. He could cook then. What happened?

Personally for me, he was burning food a LOT.....then I went and learned all the lvl 1 recipes that he doesn't teach and started getting actual recipes from him again. He still burns food often, but I'm starting to see more regular recipes. Its a start.

Oh, that's a great idea!

I feel like Nomi's practiced quite a bit on his own, but he still needs a bit of help from us to keep improving. That makes sense. :)

Far as I know you do. And it's frustrating me enough to want to drive a wooden stake through his heart, even though he isn't a vampire (though that really doesn't matter to the stake), just to see if he can burn stakes as well as he burns steaks.

Oh gosh, sorry, I missed this question!

No, you don't. He simply won't recognize you as his former teacher. But he's there. :)
