what would you do if you got a cataclysm beta invite?
i personally would give it to mania unless she had one seeing as informing the community is much better than selfishly playing the beta.

Since the beta is still considered unfinished and a lot of stuff can be changed, I'd give it to someone else instead too.

I don't want to spoil the fun when the final product comes out.

A friend had a WotLK beta key and I literally had to threaten him with physical violence to make him shut up and not tell me anything.

Giving it to Mania would mean a lot of information I couldn't stop rolling at me, so probably she wouldn't be the one.

I probably would just tell Blizzard to pick someone else.

I....am a greedy little Blood Elf, and I would use that key to explore and experience the changed world. The thrill of discovery is so often ruined for me by my raiding friends, who have been there and done that months before I, a casual player, get around to it.

Based on true events
Me: "Hey, the Argent Tournament is a lot of fun, I can't wait until I get to do the Champion quests."
Shawn: "It was okay I guess, have you been in Ulduar yet? The Yogg-Saron fight is really hard. He's an old god, all that Saronite is his blood so its kind of creepy when you're mining it."
Chris: "You're in Icecrown finally? Have you done the quest chain where you find Arthas's heart down that big hole? That's cool where you get to play as him."
Shawn: "Oh yeah and then you fight Illidan!"
Me: "Gee..thanks..."

With a Beta key, the tables will have turned at last. It will be I who knows all the new stuff, so that I can spoil the surprise for them!

Fictitious re-enactment
Me: "Hey Chris, so I was playing my Worgen on the beta, and I was running around the Barrens when this huge lava plume spouted up right in front of me, and all these black dragons flew overhead. It was so cool."
Chris: "Yeah, that's nice."
Me: "No wait, the best part was when Kalecgos becomes the blue dragonflight leader..."
Shawn: "LALALALALA I'M NOT LISTENING LALALALALA!"

So its petty, irresponsible and irredeemably greedy...but if someone has to be that way, please let it be me!

I got a beta key for Burning Crusade, and if given one for Cata, I'd do the same thing I did back then... explore EVERYTHING! Running around without interruption to look at all the new pretty is just awesome. Plus a heads up on flight pathing and towns is always a bonus for getting about. I just wanna see the damn thing hehe

Hehe, I was in the vanilla beta. It sucked!

I'm glad they made so many changes before they released the game... Otherwise I'd be playig EVE.

I would be way to tempted by the chance to explore remade (and new) zones to give it away.
As for what I would do while receiving the key... I would probably be having a mini freak-out. xD

If I got into the beta, I would park myself at a training dummy and begin to learn my character all over again, trying to figure out the new Focus system.
That's it. I would not explore, quest or anything like that. Just do training dummy testing so that when the expansion launches, I know what I'm doing.

I would probably use it just to do a bit of exploring and sight seeing. ^^

I was lucky enough to get a beta invite for Wrath. I didn't want to spoil myself, so I pretty much just went to Howling Fjord and flew around for a bit in awe of the beautiful scenery. I also played a Death Knight through its starting area and that was quite fun. I didn't do any of the questing in Northrend though, since I'd be doing it all over again when the expansion was released.

Oh, and I went and tamed Devilsaurs and Corehounds and marveled at their awesomeness. xD

I will accept an invite for the Cata beta. not for exploring the game, for testing it, and to help make the game even better then the beta if i will be able too. i really want to see the Goblin mount(heard it is gonna be a car!!).

I think its suits the Goblins, personally. There's a steam punk level of technology within WoW that allows things like this. It doesn't look like a Porsche, so for me it doesn't 'break immersion' or anything....I figure with all the other neat contraptions Goblins and Gnomes create, along with siege vehicles and so on, a go-cart isn't too out of the question.

Not to mention it looks completely badass.
