Magnakilro's Guide to Solo Farming the AQ 40 Bug Mounts!
Hello wonderful people whom I take great pleasure in helping out! Its your old pal Mag here with another mighty guide of mighteousness! So far we've delved into 2 troll empires to get a pretty raptor, a powerful tiger, and a horny frog! Now we shall move from a troll-ish setting to a more....buggy setting. We will be diving into the treacherous Temple of Ahn'qiraj (AQ 40) where 4 very pretty (but limited in use) mounts reside!
The mounts are large silithid tank models (they are the tameable silithid kind) that can only be used within AQ 40. Formerly, they were the ONLY mounts useable in AQ 40. They come in blue, green, yellow, and red colorations, red being the rarest. There is also a black silithid mount, which can be ridden anywhere,to anyone as the AQ gate opening event was discontinued. These mounts drop from those "egyptian god" statue guys, and non-boss humanoid bugs (trash only).
We will be farming these mounts from the statue guys before the 1st boss!
There are 2 methods:
Method 1:
Here's what you'll need:
Any spec
Any pet (ferocity preferred)
AoV might be useful
Once you have these things your ready to farm! Here's what you do:
Step 1: Enter AQ 40
Step 2: wait for the mob called Obsidian Eradicator to pat as close to the entrance as his path gets him
Step 3: Attack and kill it. These guys melee and cast a mana drain until mana is full, then they use some AoE dmg thing. If mana becomes low, use AoV
Step 4: Loot the corpse and hope a mount drops
Step 5: Sneak thru the doorway to the left of the Anubisath Sentinels. You should see: 4 more Anubisath Sentinels, 2 Obsidian Eradicators patting around, and Prophet Skeram.
Step 6: Wait for an O.E. (Obsidian Eradicator) to pat near the entrance steps
Step 7: Attack and kill it
Step 8: repeat step 4
Step 9: repeat steps 6 and 7 and 8 for the other O.E.
Step 10: if you did not get mounts or you want the other colors, leave the raid
Step 11: Right click your pic in the upper left corner of the screen and choose Reset All Instances
Step 12: Re-enter AQ 40
Step 13: Restart from step 1 and repeat entire procedure till u get what u want
Step 14: ?
Step 15: Profit

Re: Magnakilro's Guide to Solo Farming the AQ 40 Bug Mounts!
Method 2:
What you'll need:
BM spec
Tenacity pet (both specced for pet survivability)
Feign Death
Dismiss Pet
AoV may help
Once you have these your ready to go! Here's what you do:
Step 1: Repeat steps 1- 9 from the previous method
Step 2: With the 3 O.E's dead, choose a pack of Anubisath Sentinels. (I'd recommend the 1st group as if something goes wrong and FD is on CD, you can exit the raid)
Step 3: Attack one the the big doggies. They will ALL ATTACK AT ONCE. They each have around 110k hp. Each sentinel gains a random buff from this list: thorns, mortal strike, a knockback, mending, thunderclap, a mana burn, a spell reflection for arcane and fire, and a spell reflect for shadow and frost. When one sentinel dies, the rest are FULLY healed and recieve the buff the dead guy had. e.g: You kill a sentinel with Mending, when he dies, the other 3 will be fully healed and they will all have the mending buff alongside the buffs they started with. They keep passing thier buffs until 1 guy is left, and he will have all 4 buffs.
Step 4: Check the buffs on each dog....you will want to exit the instance if you see Mortal Strike.
Step 5: if you see that the buffs are not MS , kill a dog
Step 6: if ur pet can handle it, kill another
Step 7: if ur pet can handle it kill another
Step 8: once you have killed 3 dogs or your pet can't handle more/ was killed already, dismiss your pet (if its alive)
Step: 9: get a good distance away from thier starting point
Step 10: cast feign death, the Sentinel(s) will run back to where you first saw him and 3 new Anubisaths will spawn to replace the dead ones.
Step 11: loot the dead sentinels
Step 12: rinse and repeat till you have what you came for (keep in mind that the O.E.'s can respawn)
Step 13:?
Step 14: Profit
Good luck to everyone! The green, blue and yellow mounts have decent drop rates, the red one is pretty rare tho. There is a Feat of Strength if you get a red one. Despite the rather limited use they have, they DO count towards mount collection achievements!

I am confused. Is there no way to get one that can be used anywhere? Are these available on any realm, at any time? I really wish I had a general use bug mount.
Please don't kill me, I'm trying to love you

Nope, unfortunately all the silithid mounts from AQ are only usable when inside the instance itself. Probably why they drop so frequently.FlightofthePhoenix wrote:I am confused. The only exception was the Black Qiraji Battle Tank. It was received by all who ring the Scarab Gong within 10 hours of the first person to ring it. This was way back in the day during the opening of AQ and is no longer possible to obtain.

Note;
This does NOT work, and bailing from the raid and reforming also does NOT work- the trash either has to respawn on its own , or you will need to wait until the weekly raid reset.Step 11: Right click your pic in the upper left corner of the screen and choose Reset All Instances
Step 12: Re-enter AQ 40
Step 13: Restart from step 1 and repeat entire procedure till u get what u want

you sure? cuz it works for me. just make sure ur not killin the boss. Also you will NOT recieve a message when u reset this raid. Also I did mention that the bird-like ones respawn in the guide for the second method.

... we really can't 2 man the boss you know; we went in, we downed all trash. We left theraid instance. Aria reset ; nada. We left raid; I invited her. We went in, nada.Magnakilro wrote:you sure? cuz it works for me. just make sure ur not killin the boss. Also you will NOT recieve a message when u reset this raid. The only difference I can see is the fact Caim is a paladin and could probably solo AQ trash; where as Hunters would struggle having to multitask. And the fact that Aria was there with me, meant that we downed the trash in like 30 seconds/a minute each.
How long was it taking you to down trash?

actully you can still get them though its depends on blizz really on making new realmsVephriel wrote:Nope, unfortunately all the silithid mounts from AQ are only usable when inside the instance itself. say they made a new realm called 'wargate4000' (dont ask)
that realm wouldnt have the gates open on it yet therefore you should still be able to do teh quest chain
again i would like it add im not 100% sure on this i just remeber someone doing it before but i think if the starter Q is no longer avible you need someone to share it with you before you moved to 'said' realm if you get what i mean :s
( i ususlly never understand whut i mean so please feel free to call me a idiot

Re: Magnakilro's Guide to Solo Farming the AQ 40 Bug Mounts!
It was a while ago...a little after Wrath was released....blizz released an announcement that they were discontinuing the AQ Gate Opening event on ALL servers and new servers will start with the gates already open. They also said there are no plans on making the black qiraji available some other way.
