Guide to get the Grey Riding Camel

Unread post by Royi »

UPDATEDHeres the link for the Camel mount http://www.wowhead.com/item=63046

In Uldum there are things called Mysterious Camel Figurines, they are rare and few and far between as it seems so far. One thing I noticed from wowhead comments that these Figurines have a NPCID and thus can be tracked with NPCSCAN. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=50410

Add Mysterious Camel Figurine twice, with the NPC ID's 50410 and 50409

If you find a 50410 it will turn to dust which you can sell for 25g

If you find a 50409 it will port you to the Camel Hoarder in which you can then get the mount by defeating him

Basically, you find one of these in Uldum, open it, there is about a 5% chance that it will be a 50409 and 95% chance it will be a 50410 (allegedly)

I heard he has a lot of health, someone said they were able to do it at lvl 83 or so.

I am just posting my findings from online right now to potentially help anyone who's wanting this mount, since I knew nothing about it until i did a generic Camel search in wowhead.

Oh. I thought they were purely a rep grind mount. The other colours are available from the Ramkahen QM?

Heh i was looking today myself. As a lvl 81 the place is completely barren because of phasing I believe. But i did find 6 elementium nodes within the same area (at one point i had 4 on my minimap), did some good gold farming with that :)

*Plus he's a bit hard of a boss too, I heard he just has a crap load of health. Might wanna wait till 83-84

I got one of these today while I was circling around from a tol'vir dig. The camel figure itself is REDICULOUSLY tiny, plus it was hidden in some bushes so without NPC scan (and then I had to mind vision... lol), I probably wouldn't've found it. I highly recommend using it, unless you want to seriously be mashing a target macro CONSTANTLY. The NPC number that went off for me is 50409, although most people are reporting 50410. It could be that one is the "dud" and one is the "will port you" ID.

The boss himself is elite, with about 270k xp. I have to admit, I forget what level he was. He does a basic melee "camel smash" attack about every 2 seconds, for about 1.5 - 2k on cloth. Plus a ground AOE "camel spit" type thing that does nature damage, so move away.

Psychic scream and psychic horror had no affect on him, so I don't know how well other abilities like stuns, snares, and roots will work. Be careful with any aoes, I accidentally hit a nearby camel when I first tried psychic scream, and adding one into the battle didn't make it impossible, but it is a hassle.

Lastly, when you get up there, you get a 20 minute debuff called "Dormus's Rage", which states that he will flee when the time is up. So that's your kill time I guess. It really shouldn't take that long. I don't know where you end up if you die to him though.

YAY CAMEL!

Some notes:
The figurines are NOT bothered by phasing, I haven't done a single quest in Uldum.
I'm only 82 and my pet was 80, and I never even had to use mend pet.
Thank god for NPC_Scan putting raid markers on that thing, they ARE tiny.

Congrats Tudyk! :D I love how it says "requires level 40" on those hard-to-get mounts.

I really hope to find one of these suckas. Perhaps on my priest? I imagine it'd look great in shadowform. :)

Has anyone else noticed that at each of the "camel figurine" spawn points there tend to be groups of 3 linked critters?

Wondering if killing them may clear a spawnpoint for the figurines...

Sigh..the true TLPD of Cata.
I've been using 50409 so I might use 50410 to see if it makes any difference.

am wondering...could you camp it in the pools...and steal the kill from someone when he spawned the camel guy? if so i can see a massive amount of kill-steals in the future....please let him be auto-tagged!

I believe the entire encounter is Phased, so no you wouldnt be able to.

Also use both NPCID's 50409 and 50410 just in case. I personally still haven't come across one of these lil guys, but soon enough hopefully ;)

I believe he's phased. When I was in the steam pools on the beta, I didn't see him - as I never knew about that camel back then.

EDIT: Ninja'd

He's phased, or you are, however you want to look at it... either way, it's not a true "spawning" per se. The phasing lasts 20 minutes... you get a debuff, and when it wears off, everything fades away.

I was using both 50409 and 50410 when I went looking. NPC scan went off, I got a lucky mount, and then looked... the one that triggered was 50409. Most people that were reporting on wowhead used 50410 and got nothing. I'm still wondering if one ID is the dud and one is the lucky one. I haven't found any others on any characters since, so I can't really test beyond hyphothesis.
