Twitter Dev Chat: Cataclysm Mount News

Two fascinating pieces of mount-related information came out of the Twitter dev chat this evening.

First, Cataclysm will introduce a new extra-fast rank of Riding:

Q: Do you intend to have all 280% flying mounts scale to 310% when a 310% mount is earned, or will only purchased mounts do so?
A: Our current plan, is that in Cataclysm, you can learn a new rank of flying that lets all flying mounts move at 310% (even current 280% mounts). That will probably be as fast as mounts will ever get. We don’t like it that when you get a 310% mount that you stop using your old ones.

Secondly, players will probably be able to fly in old Azeroth immediately:

Q: If 310% speed is becoming trainable, does that mean we'll be able to fly in Azeroth from the get-go?
A: We have considered the concept of “Old Weather Flying.” Just kidding. More than likely, you’ll just be able to fly from the beginning.

Hmm .. I hadn't read that as mount-related, but you could very well be right. A camel mount would make a lot more sense than a camel mini-pet, anyway.

Moose pets/vanity pet/mounts have been discussed, thrown around and laughed about by the Blizz Dev Team since early vanilla WoW days.
But the idealism of a Moose being found in a desert leads to the inevitable question...

Is it Moose on Vacation or distant cousin Camel's homeland?

Agree...furthermore, I think that once you've paid the 27 billion gold to get at least 3 toons flying the ability should become account bound!
