“Frostwhisker Otter Mount” by Natacha Nielsen

This was the winner for the 2017 art contest, character art section. This would be a great mount, especially if it was a combined land mount and underwater mount. An unarmored version would work as a druid travel form (for both land and water, no more rapid shifting).

That is so cute I hope they make this one I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Oh my, that looks just like something Blizzard would make! What a wonderful job! The other winners are beautiful as well, and it's really cool that Blizz does these competitions.

I really love it Many of my favourites from past contests have been the mounts.

Maybe it could be ridden by the otter people from the contest a couple of years ago

They do need a new skeleton or set of animations for some of their critter/beasts. Otters, beavers, and porcupines all use the armadillo animations, which are pretty sparse. Their swimming is all doggy paddle, and they have a "hide in shell" animations for cower. Porcupine is ok, except for the cower, but otters and beavers should undulate to swim, and otters at least should have a leaping/bounding running. They don't always waddle around on land, and the model is also used for minks, mongooses, and civet cats (so far).

some of the art for that was super awesome! I wish I could learn how to do all that.

FYI, this was the hyena mount entry that won the third contest a few years ago. It was a cool concept, and the hyena was more upright, and had real spots.



That was a great year. It was the same one that had Otto the humanoid otter.

If they ever made Jinyu playable, ottermounts had been a nice racialmount for them!=) - also slightly ironic considered the mounts would actually eat their owners in rl!XD

The horde rides worgs around and they'd probably eat them given a chance, so there's a precedent! And rylaks would eat all of us. And corehounds. And....hm. Yeah, our mount stables are a terrifying place if you think about it.

But, yeah, that would be quite a nice pairing, I think. There are plenty of otterlike creatures in Pandaria, though no big ones, so it could work. Maybe they could just toss a few big otters around in the lake by the Jinyu village (and flag them as tameable)

That mount would be amazing.
