Making a note here that two of the new wild pets in 5.2 come in multiple, unique colors:

Elder Pythons come in green and red variants
Swamp Croakers come in green and blue variants

Will update the guide once I have thumbnails.

Edit: update complete

Made a correction to the maggot section, as Larvae no longer appear to come in the beige color.

Went ahead and added the 5.4 moths and the Thundertail too, as their models were already in the guide.

Added the hook wasps. Wood Wasp dark green color has a spawn rate as low as 1%.

As far as I know, the only new wild pet that has more than one skin is the Spiketail Beaver. And of course, we've lost our shiny bunnies :(

I'll update the beaver section and remove the rabbit one sometime between now and the 30th.

I will be updating the guide for 8.0 as soon as I get my hands on some thumbnails :) But I wanted to pass on this info from Warcraftpets:
Quintessence wrote:13 total wild pets (Alliance BFA zones), 8 come in multiple colors, at least 2 each 14 total wild pets (Horde BFA zones), 6 come in multiple colors, at least 2 each

I am finally working on updating this--hopefully should be finished sometime next week.

Am I crazy, or are the Sand Scarab and the grey/red skin of Creepy Crawly still the old models?

I think they might be the old model still. Did those those colors get new models with the update?

Also, you may have already found this in your research, but in case you hadn't I wanted to share what I have found so far. The only hermit type crabs that I needed a duplicate for were the dark blue and light blue Barrier Hermit, as all of the other colors I was able to cover with wild/vendor pets. I also collected a green and a white Leafy Flutterwing as all the other new butterfly models seem to be the blue version only. The pink version Coastal Bounder frog and the purple version of the Boghopper are unique and not found in any other frogs, but all of the other colors they come in are covered with other wild/vendor pets. Also, we no longer need two wood wasps as the green can be obtained with a Parasitic Boarfly and I let go of my duplicate blue Swamp Croaker as Benax is the same color (I hadn't noticed this last expac). I am still going through my collection but wanted to offer help. Just let me know if I can check any families or models for you.

Thank you, thank you for bringing up the needed update for wasps and pandaren frogs, I'll go ahead and change those first, as they don't need image uploads. [Edit: should also add the Mud Jumper color to frogs to be complete, so will hold off a bit on that one.]

Still on track for this week, here are other updates I'll be including:

Sandyback Crawler should be the white/blue color
Freshwater Crawler should be the brown/green color
Bloodfever Tarantula should be the rusty color
Valley Chicken, need three: off-white, spotted, and brown/grey
River Frog should be the spotted green color
Vale Marmot: need two, all beige and all brown
River Otter should be darker brown color

You actually need three valley chickens from what I could see, as the white one us not pure white. It seems to have a light creamy or dirty color on its tail and lower feathers that the existing white chickens don't have.

Thanks for pointing that out, very subtle and I didn't notice the difference.

Such a handy resource, I've been feeling the need to be more of a completionist recently and I remembered this existing. :D I have to have at least one of each colour!
