I THOUGHT that we were supposed to be able to keep this pup now, even when we took the hat off?

I remember it working for a while, with the pup appearing soon as I zoned/dismounted/etc...

But today, no luck. No combination of actions seems to allow this pet to remain with me.
I MUST be doing something wrong?

Did they announce a change?
Or is this one of their stealth changes just to piss us off?
Or am I just doing it wrong?

Waaah!
no 1 wants teh see-thru puppeh? (see what I did there? I referenced another thread... cool huh?)

But seriously, I really really wish I could have my Ghost puppy out, but without needing to always change hats, call pet, change hats, call pet, change hats, dismount, change hats, zone out, change hats, call puppy, etc....

Honestly, this pet is far more trouble than it's worth.

Remember when they added the feature that your vanity pets get automatically recalled when you zone, or get off a taxi, or off a flying mount?
I remember VERY distinctly that the Don Carlos puppy ALSO reappeared.
That was the ONLY reason I went and got this pet on most of my toons. I LOVE the ghost pup look, and being able to have it out without wearing the hat was a big plus.
You could don the hat (no pun intended), call the pet, then mount and remove the hat. When you dismounted, the ghost pup would reappear, without you needing to have the hat equipped. Until you called another vanity pet, the game would automatically call the ghost pup.
You can look it up on Wowhead. There are a number of comments regarding this.

However, it seems that they either broke it, or "fixed" it recently, because now it doesn't work.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snipe at you.
I'm just frustrated that this was my favourite vanity pet, and now I can't call it without sacrificing the stats from my helm.

Yeah, I noticed the same a little while ago. Very sad, I just adored that pet!

Yeah, I'm afraid it working that way for a while was just a bug. Don Carlos' hat is probably one of the things that I'll be putting in void storage.

In the end, the ghost pup is a completely pointless and useless pet?
I mean, seriously, who would forgo using a head piece with useful stats, for having a pet?

Seriously, Blizz should look into making this pet a "normal" vanity pet.

It's pretty much the same deal as the pirate hat that summons a parrot, so yes, just a pet for RP.
