White Worm?
I went to look for a pet that was more water friendly, since seeing a bird flying behind me looked wrong, and found that The Temple of Atal'Hakkar has been shrunken and no longer seems to contain the White Worm model.... or I'm blind!
Re: White Worm?
Of course.
The inside being shrunken was what I was referring to, sorry.
The entrance is now in the room called "Hall of Masks", and the entirety of the dungeon seems to be the last room where all the green dragons are. Well over half the walk down is just plain gone, and the upper part of the dungeon itself seems to be gone as well.
Also, going back to look again, I'm finding only the Hakkari Sappers and Hakkari Frostwings, with no trace of the worms or either the Murk Slitherer
Here's a picture of the entrance from the inside.

Re: White Worm?
Hrm, have you checked up on the previously existing, but untameable white worms to see if their status has changed any?
Otherwise, I'm sure they'll pop up in another zone someplace; that's what's happened with everything else that's gone missing.

Re: White Worm?
Eep, that was the only place they could be tamed in.....but I have faith Blizzard will put them somewhere else if they're not there anymore.
Re: White Worm?
Well, I went around to see where the other two instances of white worm skin were, and found that the Flesh Eating Worm is tamable, but would be akin to taming the ghost wolves since they self-destruct quickly. I have no idea where Cadaverous Worms are in Dire Maul.

Re: White Worm?
Any update on the white worm skin?
With the increased taming speed, would that make the Flesh Eating Worm feasible?
I think the cadaverous worms from Dire Maul were in the side with the spirits of the highborne. http://cata.wowhead.com/npc=14370
Think I just answered my own question - apparently they are tameable.

Re: White Worm?
Even if they made the dungeon smaller, if the whole temple will not have a huge makeover, there should be no reason for the white worm to become extinct. I can imagine the mobs at those parts of the dungeon to just become non-elites, even if the worms already are non-elites.

Re: White Worm?
With the big patch hitting before the cataclysm, at least we'll be able to go tame these beforehand, just in case.

Re: White Worm?
You can't get to the floor where the worms resided any more. You start off and only access the floor with Eranikus, Jammal'an and Hakkar.kamoodle5 wrote:Even if they made the dungeon smaller, if the whole temple will not have a huge makeover, there should be no reason for the white worm to become extinct. I personally refer to it now as the 'Shrunken Temple'™...

Re: White Worm?
I never managed to get into the old world worm models... not sure why, maybe not enough moving parts or something...
The one I've always REALLY wanted is untamable - the burrower from Hellfire Peninsula. Its chitin seems much more articulated, tons of little legs and the head is wicked looking, like the chest burster from Aliens.
Sadly it probably won't ever be tamable either as it would entail building a new "aboveground" model...

Re: White Worm?
Some bad news.
The Cadaverous Worms in Dire Maul (once I finally found them - they spawn from a mob), are NOT considered beasts, and therefore NOT tameable.
At least not in beta. Haven't ever gone to check in live.

Re: White Worm?
That's a real shame. I added them to the untameable skins list for now, but hopefully they'll be back in an upcoming patch.

Re: White Worm?
Added them to the Sticky List on this sub-form.
I'm not too worried because so far Blizzard has been excellent with ensuring the survival of all pet skins.

Re: White Worm?
FOUND ONE! The flesh eating worms are tameable with a little bit of haste and the faster tame time.

It's a little tricky, but not as complicated as the ghost wolves were. You're going to want at least 10% haste. (I can't tell you the exact cast time as I'm running no mods and the tooltip doesn't say... 10% just seemed to be the magic number where a tame finally landed before he died.). You can do it without a core hound/bloodlust or berserking, but obviously those would help, and cut the need for haste on gear.
You want to look around the Raven Hill Cemetery in Duskwood for a mob called Rotted One. These spawn one Flesh Eating Worm when they die. The worm stays alive for only a few seconds, so a targetting/tame macro is pretty much essential. I just used a simple macro, which I spammed as my arcane shot was flying through the air.
/tar flesh eating
/cast tame beast
It will die shortly after taming (VERY shortly... if not at the exact time of the tame), but it can be rezzed and you can continue on normally.

Re: White Worm?
Haha, excellent ummeiko! ^_^ I knew they were bound to show up somewhere. *goes to update list*
Re: White Worm?
Wow, good job!
. Though I wonder if they'll stay that way since it doesn't look like it was intended. I'll move them to the "re-added" section of the untameables list with a note explaining the situation in case they are blocked from taming.

Re: White Worm?
WONDERFUL! Thanks, Ummeiko! There's something I can actually go test on the PTR myself!
BRB!
*snip downtime*
Okay, so I decided to grab a few corehounds (just in case) and trekked over to Duskwood.
As an aside, I saw a blood elf hunter tame Uvuros right in front of me - she had a scorpid, so she definitely did it with no puppy lust. I passed back by the area and tamed him myself with nothing up, just my own base 20.56% haste. I got hit twice and dodged the third hit. I then proceeded to tame him another couple of times, since I could. Same deal the second time, three hits and he was mine. The third time, I got a little unlucky and got feared, but was easily able to tame him after the fear (though he hit me four times during that one). The fourth hit me four times, but the tame went off before the fear cast finished. So for potential tamers of him, that's the rundown.
Right. The worms! So I get to Duskwood, find a Rotted One, kill it.....and get spammed with Invalid Target messages. Right, these guys are still not tameable on the PTR. T_T So in case anyone wants to do this, they'll have to do so AFTER the release of Cataclysm. I do think this will stay in, though, as these guys are NOT tameable on live/the PTR, but they are in beta. Seems like an intentional change.

Very interesting! It does seem intentional. Praises be to whichever hidden Blizzard devs are watching over usKalliope wrote: I do think this will stay in, though, as these guys are NOT tameable on live/the PTR, but they are in beta. Seems like an intentional change.

(P.S. I want a chromatic drake mount!)
