Helboars now tameable in Outland
All five skins of the helboars of Outland are now classed as beasts and are tameable! I haven't checked every last NPC... just one of each colour.

Taming Starving Helboar in HFP (red with black spines):
Taming Domesticated Felboar in SMV (yellow with brown spines):
Taming Felboar in SMV (grey with green spines):
Taming Shard-Hide Boar in Blade's Edge Mountains (blue with grey spines... I think this is the prettiest):
Taming Deranged Helboar in HFP (grey with orange spines, quite striking):

Edited the above post to include all four skins. Of interest maybe to someone.. the Aether Ray in the same area as the blue boar is still NOT tameable (it's the only NPC with that ray skin).

You beat me to asking! xD I saw one in that last pic and was already formulating the question...Wain wrote:Edited the above post to include all four skins. Of interest maybe to someone.. the Aether Ray in the same area as the blue boar is still NOT tameable (it's the only NPC with that ray skin).
That's a hell of a change....I guess Blizzard is very much okay with us taming these. OOH, maybe the blue hellhounds in VH are tameable now too??? *eyes Blizz*

Neat! Then we can get Helboars without camping Grunter!
Sorry people, all that camping was in vain! xD

Re: Helboars now tameable in Outland
While I was up in BEM I also checked if the Angered Arakkoa Protector (only 2-headed blue vulture) was now tameable, but it isn't. Same bug as always... it says it's tameable but even when its summoner dies it still says it's being controlled.
I left a suggestion on it that the controller info be removed when the summoner dies so it can be tamed. I'd encourage any other beta hunters to do the same
To get one to appear, go to Ruuan Weald, stand in the green summoning circle and aggro one of the arakkoa. Get it to low health without killing it and it'll summon the bird.

Yep, you can relax now... it's becoming obvious they really do intend him (or his skin) to be tameablewinny wrote:thats freaking awsome, that means that Grunter will also stay the same. Thnx for posting the great news!!

Hmm, good question! I haven't checked that yet, but it prompted me to check the darkhounds. The ones in Tirisfal, at least (including the pinkish rare spawn one, Bayne), are still demonsKalliope wrote:OOH, maybe the blue hellhounds in VH are tameable now too??? *eyes Blizz*

Still, if hellboars are suddenly tameable, who's to say that other demons won't suddenly become available? After all, the blighthounds have that model...

Eep! This makes me super happy! I really like the black and green and the shardhide, always wanted to tame them, it's great that we now can. As someone mentioned, I would love to see the other color blighthounds tameable, the more variety, the better

All the blue magehunters I checked are still demons. That includes the ones wandering DB and BT, and the ones in Nexus.Wain wrote:Hmm, good question! EDIT: update: checked darkhounds in Howling Fjord, Nagrand and BRD and all are still demons.

Are they classed as boars, or are they an entirely different 'species' so to say?

How awesome is this! Finally, blue hell-pig, you shall be mine!

They seem to be just good old-fashioned boars. Nothing exoticGalahandra wrote:Are they classed as boars, or are they an entirely different 'species' so to say?
