As for the no ammo thing, this means I get a whole extra bag! Yes, I use an ammo pouch still, 28 slots each filled with stacks of 1000 Iceblade Arrows. Excessive, absolutely, but I never run out of ammo!

They said that they're turning them into bags, but of a normal size, so we don't feel the need to get quivers for all our characters, so it'll most likely become a Glacial bag, or a Frostweave one.

so the question still remains how are they going to adjust wrath weapons to account for the loss, or will it be baked into passive talents.

I was hoping that the new bullets and arrows would have been like librams except crafted by engineers. Oh well...

True, but not for BM. Especially if you are using Rowan's Rifle.

Now for MM with a 3.0 weapon, yeah, more haste is good..

No arrows whatsoever. The slot is being completely removed, and no relic or such either. Just no more ammo. Cheap solution, but necessary.

a real shame tho i was really hoping for some relic type of solution
there are a some classes that use the relic slot >_>

Sigils > Death knights
Idols > Druids.
Totems > Shamans.
Librams >Paladins.

would have been fun if we could have some kind of arrow enchants or something

but on the other hand they might be phasing the relic slot out in cataclysm

I'm ok with ammunition completely disappearing. It's rather annoying having to get special ammo, whether by grinding reputation or getting an engineering schematic out of some 25man raid. The board is now level across the... uhm... board. :|

As far as gun design goes, I'd prefer something like the long rifles the Tauren tend to carry. It actually looks like, well, a gun. Blizzard's high end guns always look like something out of a futuristic FPS. One of these days they'll just blatantly give us a BFG 3000 from Doom or one of the Prawn weapons out of District 9.

I would LOVE a prawngun! "Trolls be shooting crustaceans, mon!"

The thing is, it shouldn't be level across the board! Those of us who raid or PvP for those recipes deserve them more than someone who just quests or randoms. We work for the recipes, in a setting made for challenges! Besides, all the other professions get nice recipes in raids, for whatever armor they can make, like legs. We engineers make goggles, guns, trinkets and ammo, enchants too to a lesser extent. We rarely if ever get recipes. A bit unfair, don't you think?

We don't need a relic; we already have a ranged weapon that fills that spot! :D

I'm very glad to see that we don't have a Relic-like ammo slot. The thought of needing to get lucky with drops and rolls in order to get the best DPS ammo slot makes me queasy, and the possibility of needing to swap out that item for different fights because of different properties makes my head spin in addition to the queasiness.
Ammo shouldn't be like a trinket and I hope that never happens.

I realise that Relics and Trinkets are different, the former is obtained differently, like Totems, than the latter, but I don't trust Blizzard to not make things painfully competitive for Hunters.

'nuff said.

I have personally never liked the steam-punk gun asthetic, but Blizz has a chubby for guns so I have learned to cope, I miss decent quest or even BoE bows.

I have been patiently waiting for the bow off Deathwhisper for months.

Since we are returning to the old world in Cataclysm, I think Hunters need a Rhok'delar Mark II quest chain. We've got a new resource system, new talents, back in the old world, let's see what Hunters can do and be rewarded appropriately.

Too bad they're removing all class quests then, eh Anansi? :P

I think they realize that hunters didn't need the extra mechanic for buffing their main weapon and that we have one or two stat stick slots already, so ammo wasn't really necessary anyway, except in the sense of RP. It's already hard for us to roll on stat sticks, y'know? Gotta compete with feral druids, rogues, and enhancement shamans.

I know! Stupid Blizzard. I love class-specific quests, they're one of those things that makes your choice a little more interesting and involved.

I hope this is the case and they aren't just putting special ammo on a to-do list for later. I know GC spoke against the idea as well but I'm still wary as specialised ammo seemed like an idea that carried a lot of popular support. And I know how hard it is to get stat sticks! I'm still hauling around Hellion Glaive which I've had for almost a year now and I'm sick to death of looking at the danged thing!

Indeed. The reward always seemed so fit to the class, and we warlocks NEED those quests! We summon our demons, and then enslave them! We don't just go to a random teacher-warlock and say "hai cud u teech me 2 get succubus plz lul"! We gather the materials necessary to summon, and then we defeat the summoned demon to enslave it!

This is just as stupid as the goddamn talent changes!

All they have to do is add some non-ammo schematics then. :) Ammo is pretty boring anyhow. If a schematic for a BoP bi-plane flying mount dropped in a raid, I might seriously have to start raiding. Or a battle chicken mount. Maybe a jet pack! Kind of like a reverse parachute cloak...

The problem with this is, the "raid/PvP/dungeon dropped patterns" end up becoming "required" for ANY participation, and that ends up screwing over those who don't or do very little of any of those activities.

I don't believe that "required" content (ie: patterns for functional items) should come from those sources. They should be quested at best.

raid/PvP/dungeon patterns should give gear for those who do the activity, not patterns that others who don't do the activity will pay for. ie: do a raid, get an ammo pattern, sell the ammo for huge gold because EVERYONE requires that ammo or else they can't participate fully in end-game or whatever.

This is much in the same way that people are complaining that the Blizzard store should not sell any stat-bearing items. (with which I agree)

Raid/PvP drops/rewards should be BoP and "personal use only" at worst.
