YAY!!! (King Krush)

Unread post by Rhyela »

OMG, still reeling from the disbelief that I actually got him!!! Ever since the first time I found him, and lost him due to three 80's swooping in and killing him, I've been what my husband calls, "obsessed" (can't imagine where he'd get that from). I spent several hours yesterday looking for him again, from about 8:00 in the morning til about 1:30 this morning (not non-stop, but often). Nothing. So today I called off work due to my lack of sleep last night, and went back to bed. But I laid there, thinking, "I need to check, just once. What if he's there? Just go check and go back to bed". So that's what I did. I started out in Nesingwary's camp, and flew clockwise. First, up west by The Maker's Perch where I first saw him. Nothing. My heart sank a little. Continued on anyway toward Glimmering Pillar and THERE HE WAS. I couldn't believe it! I go down to tame, and not even looking at my surroundings, start taming right next to Farunn. CRAP. I feign, and start to fly away to look for another pet. A blood elf paladin arrives. "NO NOT AGAIN!" I think to myself, so I fly up, emote /no, /beg, and /plead. He actually leaves! Wow. I'm putting humanoid tracking on now. I already know KK is there, I need to know if any people are there that might kill him. Ok. I go grab another pet, go up again, and begin the tame. Well, he got a couple huge crits in or something because I'm down to about 1k health with at least 4 seconds left on the tame. In frustration and anger I storm out of the room to grab my phone. Last resort, my brother. I dare not ask anyone in general because that only invites someone to be mean. I must be...covert. My brother was awake, hurray! But now the painfully long couple minutes must go by before my brother can get there (resto shaman). I sit and wait for him. Thankfully no one comes by, whew. He finally gets there. We got one shot at this, heroism has a 10-minute cooldown. He gives me earth shield, pops heroism, and I pull Krush with a distracting shot + scorpid sting, then begin my taming macro (TBW+abandon+tame). He charges me, right in the middle of TBW. Nooooo! There go precious fear-immune seconds. But that's ok, we're doing this anyway. My brother's earth shield and heroism prove to be a HUGE help, as finally, the tame bar dwindles, dwindles, dwindles, and finally KRUSH IS MINE!!! I'm still all shaky and ecstatic! Just funny how I just had this tugging to go check. Wow. So after thanking my brother a billion times (and him replying back that I'd better help when he wants Aotona, hehe), I log on my horde alt to thank the pally that didn't kill Krush, unlike the allies that did a couple days ago. I offered him money, but he said he didn't want it. He said he was just glad I finally got him and that he's happy for me. Again, thanked him profusely, and logged. I have renamed Krush Apollyon (the Destroyer). It seems a fitting name.

I know people say that when you see your tame sitting there, not to panic. But when that adrenaline is flowing and you realize that here sits the beast you've been looking for (even moreso when you've lost it once or more already), you can't help but be excited beyond words. Took three tries (five if you count the previous time), but it paid off. And calling off of work paid off, too (though I didn't call off specifically for Krush, he was a fortunate by-product).

By the way, I am level 75. Probably very over-ambitious to try to tame him but I had decent gear so I figured I'd try it. Couldn't have done it without help, that's for sure.

Ok, enough yacking. Here's my pride and joy whom I shall never EVER get rid of.

Congrats! I've only seen him once, while I was on my druid, and there were like 10 people competing to tag and kill him... ;_;

He's such a pretty beastie, and taming him is such a badge! Nice work. :D

You know, I thought of that, too. Seems to happen when you're totally exhausted as well, after all that searching and searching.

For anyone who is looking to tame him, I have a couple suggestions (and I can't guarantee 100% that this is certain, but it seemed to help):
1) Do NOT start your macro at max distance like I did the first time. I figure, and I can't prove this, that his fear acts as an Intimidating Shout, that he needs to be in melee range to do it. My first mistake was that I began this macro at max distance so by the time he got to me, TBW was already almost up and he got his fear off. Pull him with scorpid sting (3% reduced chance to hit, never hurts to try) and let him get in range before using the macro.
2) He only did it this time today, but he does have a charge ability that will knock you back, interrupting the tame. I figure after step one above, let him charge you, THEN begin taming with TBW/etc. Anything to reduce that chance of you being interrupted will be a great help.
3) And finally, I thought my gear was good enough but he proved me wrong on several occasions. You may want to do your best to bring a friend. I'm very fortunate my brother was available.

Good luck to everyone. It sure is an amazing pet!

Thanks for the congrats!

Thank you so much, but I can't take all the credit. I could not have done it without my wonderful younger brother who was willing to log on in the early hours to help me tame him. I am a very lucky sister, indeed. ^_^

Wow!

That's pretty much EXACTLY the process I went through getting my dear Theseus! The initial spotting, the followup kill, the BURNING OBSESSION, the omgomgomghe'sthere!, the incredible relief to have him by your side. Throw in an extra "rinse and repeat," since he was killed on me twice.

I could tell from the first screenie, before looking at anything else, that you found him at my favorite spot. <3

And yeah, wow, at 75! Earth shield was KEY right there. Hero helped tons too, but earth shield would have kept you alive without needing casted heals.

I totally agree with the taming tips above too; I learned those the hard way. x_x

I like how "burning obsession" is in caps. It really is that intense, isn't it?

If he had been killed again yesterday, I think I'd have just taken the rest of the week off, lol. I kept telling my husband I was going to just give up til I was 80, but giving up doesn't sit well with me at all. It was like this gnawing obsession. Any time I wasn't in Sholazar I kept thinking, "What if he's there right this second?" It drove me CRAZY! If nothing else, at least my sanity was saved yesterday (well, the little bit I had to begin with, anyway). Hehehe.....

I remember after taming Gondria how I just sat there, staring at the screen, slack-jawed. I was so TIRED and so BRAIN-NUMBED but I couldn't believe she was MINE!!! But there she was! With that AMAZING tag that read: Valinai's Pet.

!!!!!!

I'm so glad to have found all of you crazy hunters who not only sympathize but empathize! My Guildies don't always know who Gondria is. One of them is always busting my chops these days when we run dungeons. He's jokingly saying "you need to be using the devilsaur! he's the best dps!" and I come back with "according to femaledwarf.com, I do better dps with the spirit beast!" and that's where his argument falls apart...

So last night on Vent, I finally laughed and said "I spent a WEEK getting the pet, I'm going to USE it!!" and someone on Vent but not in the instance was like "...what pet?"

So I had to explain that she's a really rare spawn and I got gratz'd. :)

BUT GRATS AGAIN! It is pretty amazing that you got him at 75. I'm so proud of you! ;)

Yes, it is. ;)

I was totally hooked on this guy after I saw him the first time, but even more so after seeing him the second. I will say it again: he is the most gorgeous untamed beast I have ever seen in WoW. If people didn't kill him so quickly, I would be very content just sitting around watching him walk for a while. That actually happened that second time I saw him, since I had to wait for a priest to get there.

I have never felt so strongly about any of my other pets, no matter how much I love them.

It's his colors, gotta be it. Green is win and Gold is win so Green and Gold on a giant dinosaur of rawr stomping goodness is to much imba for any hunter to resist.

And if you do resist there's something wrong with you... or you're not BM 8D no offense meant to those who don't want him.

His coloring is gorgeous, this is a definite.

It's how he moves. His pace. His everything.

You know, ironically enough it was his colors that almost made me hesitant to go for him at first. Initially I had only seen pictures of him in poor lighting or what-have-you. I kinda preferred the more "realistic" colors of the brown/red devilsaur (King Dred, King Mosh, etc.). But once I went to Sholazar the first time and saw him in person, strutting around with that air of "I dare you to tame me," I fell in love. He was the most beautiful beast I had ever seen and I was positively hooked. I remember telling my brother over and over again the next day as we were looking for him, "He is just sooooo pretty, I can't believe how beautiful he is!..." with my brother replying, "So why don't you marry him? harhar". >.>
