Re: Hydras
Yes they do give Mastery
Re: Hydras
When Spirit of Atha was the only "tameable" hydra Blizzard gave it a crit buff.
And I believe if you tame a hydra on a low level toon it gives them crit until they level up and unlock mastery.*
*I'll test this out.
Edit: Low level players still seem to get mastery.
I guess it just hasn't been updated on the pet page yet.

Re: Hydras
I was a little saddened at the fact that they give mastery, the same buff as the infinitely plentiful cats but unlike cats they can't prowl.

Re: Hydras
I checked this out yesterday and on three separate hunters my Spirit of Atha does not give a crit bonus. At least not that I can tell. Just the mastery. Which sucks. And all three on are on level 90's.

Re: Hydras
So is it still called Bellowing Roar, but it gives mastery now? Just checking so Mania will know what to change.
Are there any other errors in pet family abilities that you've noticed on the site?
Thanks for finding this

Re: Hydras
I have read articles that say that Mastery is a much more highly rated stat in WoD and may even be the top one, especially for BM.zedxrgal wrote:I checked this out yesterday and on three separate hunters my Spirit of Atha does not give a crit bonus. Re: Hydras
True. Mastery does seem quite useful for a lot of classes!

Re: Hydras
Problem is that there are a lot of other buffs / classes that give mastery so another mastery pet is kind of useless where a crit pet is usually more welcome. Guess he goes into the stable master with the others.

Re: Hydras
I still bring him. You're going to run into that a lot. Most classes cover everything. Hunters aren't supposed to be the main buffers. We're a support for if there's something missing. In otherwords, don't judge your pet just for the buff he can bring. That doesn't make him worthless or useless. He's still yours and you can use him as much as you'd like. Rarely in my raid team do I have to fill the role of buffing. But there have been some instances where mastery was missing.
Re: Hydras
With the changes to buffs/debuffs and who brings what now, it's actually about even across the board for buffs. Brewmasters now also bring crit with Windwalkers, along with Feral/Guardian druids and all mage specs. So it's still one of those moments where it's is going to be based on your group make up on which pet might be better, but overall, it's looking like it's not going to be 'vital' that you always bring a certain pet.
Wowhead has a nice table where you can see which buffs don't have quite as many people bringing things, but overall, most things should be covered easily without hunters having to stress as much.
