PTR Beasts/Pets Info ~ 6.2

Unread post by SpiritBinder »

Hi All, as you may or may not know, Mr Wain is away on holidays, intrepidly traveling and trekking across India and Nepal (#jealous!).
That said he and does not have the PTR access that we all do and was thinking if we could help locate/catalog what new beasts are appearing on the PTR, their Location, ID, Family type and tamablity status it would help him, Mania and Petopia keep in tip top shape and up to date as soon as he can get a little time.

I'll try collate any data in this top post, but the more info/help, the merrier. Also for finding out a targets NPC ID, please just target the mob and paste in..
/run print("Target NPC ID:", strmatch(UnitGUID("target"),"-(%d*)-%x*$"))
which should give you the correct ID

Big thanks to any and all!

There's a few things listed in Wowhead as having been added to the database in 6.2 but I haven't found in the game. Sometimes it happens that they're never used, but if you see any of the following, please let us know:
  • Ancient Matriarch (purple hydra) - used for corpse on beach
  • Crimsonwing Kaliri (red kaliri)
  • Felboar (old felboar model) - NPC proc for new tier armour, according to Bendak. Hopefully it'll be switched to a new look before release.
  • Iron Wolf (Iron Horde-style wolf, not to be confused with the Iron Warwolf which is tameable at Iron Front)
  • Rotting Diretusk (grey-brown Draenor boar) - spawned as corpses in fel area
  • Shadowmoon Wolf (grey-brown Draenor wolf)
  • Tanaan Wolf (brown Draenor wolf)
Also:
  • Keravnos Scouts (hydras) appear to be under the ground at the Iron Front. Does anyone know what's going on there? Is there a cavern down there that I haven't found the entrance to, or are they possibly just bugged remnants of an early version of the zone?

I know this doesn't mean much but the Felbound Wolf on WoWhead is classified as a beast. I suspect I had my hopes up that WoWhead would actually be CORRECT for a change or are there wolves maybe in hiding???
The do show as being the same model as the Mother of Wolves who is a beast on live.

Thanks for recording all these :)

Could we record changes/ fixes to existing beasts here as well? Like the two chimaera-rylaks that are now rylaks. Hopefully the ravager-wasp has been fixed too. There's a bunch of other stuff listed in the following thread that may also be worth checking to see if it's fixed, if anyone is keen to help:
http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic ... 54&t=23195

Thanks again :)

Moved the list of unfound NPCs to the OP.

We also now know the "Felboar" is a spawned NPC from a new armour proc. Thanks Bendak! It currently uses an old felboar model but hopefully that'll change.

If you're experiencing the PTR bug where it gives error 112 when you try to load it, or it brings up an empty list of realms, you may need to create a new PTR account.

WARNING: this will remove any characters you already had on the PTR. But as long as you're happy to re-do whatever you've done on there, it's not a great issue.

HOWEVER: you may also already have an OLD PTR account in your list, which is not valid for the current PTR realms. If this exists then it will mean you don't have the option of adding a new PTR account. To check, log into your account on the web, and under your list of WoW accounts see if any of them mention PTR. If not, select your main WoW account, then under Additional Services at the bottom of the page you should have the option to add a new PTR account. If the option to add an account isn't present you probably have an old PTR account in your main list of accounts.

If you need to remove an old PTR account first, you must speak (via chat) to a customer service rep to remove it. I found the service time was super fast (less than a minute!) to speak to someone using the link:
https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/chat/wow/153
Just ignore the security question and ID attachment things. In the description say you need to remove a PTR account because the realms aren't showing up.

Once they're done, you can select your main WoW account, then under Additional Services at the bottom of the page you should have the option to add a new PTR account. This should hopefully fix your issues.

Aw shucks. I was hoping we could tame that one. I'm gonna miss the current 4 piece bonus pet. I like being able to select who'll join in the fight. Usually, it's the third pet I tamed back in vanilla, Mazzranache. After all these years, I just imagine him yelling "That's right! I'm baaaack!" when I bit BW.

So far the only (pet-related) thing I've found different in the new patch is that the Skittish Shorecrawler crabs (formerly an old-model bronze crab) have been renamed to Fathomless Skitterer and come in three colours of spiked crab. None of the colours is new, however: blue, blue + blue markings, "electric blue" (which is just the blue markings skin with no base colour).

There's at least a couple of new tameable looks in this latest build!

Direwing Predators now use the previously unused "BatTroll" skin. This is a really nice tan but has never been seen in the game before.

Image

Fathomless Mauler crabs now use a really cool new look. It's the ghost skin with the red skin over the top, giving it a kind of electric-red look.

It's not the same as the Timeless Isle one. This is a new look. Both are blue and red, though.

From what we're told, there are no plans to make the python model tameable at this point. It's a very basic model and has only the simplest of attack animations, no moving jaw or anything.

Personally, I think they should allow it anyway. It's not like it would ever become commonly tamed, or representative of the family. Like silkworms in the worm family, it would only be a curious extra. I really don't think it could hurt. Even the really old snakes look surprisingly good when they're large, considering how basic they are.

I'd love for the python model to become tamable. It's lack of a moving jaw when attacking reminds me of the defensive nose-bump my pet hognose does. Hunter pet pythons would nose-bump things to death and that is stupidly cute to me. ;)

Yes! <3

I'd still love to be able to tame them one day. I really don't mind their simple animations, they work well enough on wild mobs that you have to stand in front of and attack and they really don't look bad at enormous sizes. I think the silkworm comparison is more than fair. It would be nice to have the option one day, if we can ever convince them. :>

New build up! Hulking Diretusks, Diretusk Sows and Diretusk Piglets (all common) and Steelsnout (the rare) are now all the new red skin.

I have a feeling there are more new things yet. Will post again in a bit.
