Patch 6.2 PTR - Oil Stained Wolf lost its oil coat

Oh damn. This is still happening? That is a worry. Still wondering if the problem is real or a problem with copying to the ptr. Hrm. :/

It was quite some time ago, but I do recall a GM saying they were working on a new tech to try and combine the aura with the model, and not the buf/debuff itself. They said there was no time/confirmation regarding it, but they were looking at it.
I wonder if this is/has something to do with that?

Just checked mine and reported them as bugs.

Oil-Stained Wolf, Lone Hunter, Armored Battleboar, Sha-Touched Crane/Cat, Kung Din, all lost their effects. Wolf and Hunter still had their visible buffs.

My Ghostpaw Alpha has, however, kept his buff and effect.

Honestly, if this goes through on live, I'm out. This, on top of flying, would kill any interest I have for the game.

Part of me is still hoping this is just some sort of PTR copy bug since my original PTR Veph can summon her crocolisk and he still has his sha effect. Maybe when the patch goes live our pets will retain their buffs because they were already there. *crosses fingers* Though I'd be worried about the future implications of realm transferring with specialty pets in that case.

Yeah, it's definitely new and worrisome in either case. The fact that the original copies still have the visual effects though is curious since the game clearly isn't wiping them in that regard.

Copy usually have an issue ... Even GM dosent want to admit it . I used to have a maggot pet , when I do server transfer the pet is gone . Even blizzard don't want to admit it and accuse I delete it my ownself . I quit wow for a year after that . This is a horrible reality ... So good luck for those buffed pet .

I'm not overtly worried, personally. Because the buffs are still THERE on the nameplate, it means Blizzard isn't wiping them. I'm pretty sure it's just PTR issues.

As of yesterday's 6.2 launch all of my oil pets retain their oil visual.

Relieved to report that my sha crocolisk is also just fine after the patch, looks like it was some sort of PTR glitch after all.

If anyone has a hunter with any of the glitched pets with visual effects, DO NOT take them into timewalking! The re-level will remove the effect.

To me, this feels almost like when I found out my dog died. The pet may still be there, but it's dead to me, and I'm a little dead inside as well.

Hunters may not form as many bonds with their pets these days, but as a vanilla player that had to feed and keep a pet happy, I still form such bonds, and feel that each pet is a part of my hunter.

If the pet is abandoned, is there a possibility that a GM may be able to restore the pet to it's pre-wiped state?
or is that only possible with pets that had a "buff" on them post-tame?

I'm so relieved that your pets kept their effects post-patch. It really must have been a character copy glitch on the PTR. I'm not so much into visual effects myself but I know how many love theirs and they are pretty cool.

Huns, I'm so sorry to hear about your boar Even though Qinni had no luck getting her goat restored it can't hurt to ask a GM. If there's any chance they could restore it from a 6.1 backup it would be worth asking.
