They're not tamable, but they are pretty

Unread post by Kalliope »

Two new shoveltusk colors are now in game! :D They're very rich, pretty colors:

ShoveltuskBrown (on Shoveltusk Foragers)
ShoveltuskRed (on Longhoof Grazers)

There is also a new talbuk skin:

TalbukSkinWhite (on Talbuk Does) {highlighted version to better show color}

And a new gazelle skin:
GazelleSkinOrange (on Sunchaser Gazelles)

And the regular Pterrordaxes got a makeover too:

PterrordaxSkinBrown

None of them are tamable, but they are really pretty! :D The darker models truly are warm and rich.

Most of the links are dead. x_x But I'm happy that some of the untamable fauna are getting reskins!

This seems to maybe point to talbuks and shoveltusks being considered as new tameables (talbuks ... please ? :)) Anyway, same as Toph, can only see the attachment white talbuk (though that one looks nice).

Always nice to have new reskins though, even if they aren't being made into tameables.

The unused skins being put in adds potential sue in the future so all good :) God I love the white talbuk though can't say I could ever see myself with a pet one.
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

Same, I would also really like a talbuk/stag/shoveltusk pet family. Maybe even throw in giraffes for good measure :) Maybe they could have a haste buff or something.

It's always great to see all these skins added to the game, even for non tamable mobs.

I was very happy when they changed Banthar colour last patch (not sure why but i liked the fact they did) although i have to admit i'd love to see Stags/Talbuks/Giraffes/Gazelles/Shoveltusks added as tamable under the same family, something like "Ungulates" or even just "Herbivores" would do.

The same could be said about kodos and clefthoofs (and maybe even thunderlizards?) to be added under the rhino family...that pet category has very few skins (and is one of the most underused in general due to the lack of BM hunters and their ability not being THAT useful) so more variety could totally help.

Beautiful pictures, Kalli! :)

(One tiny correction... the orange skin is a gazelle skin, not talbuk.)

Sadly the skin changes are no indicator they'll soon be tameable. I just say that in case anyone saw it as a sign and got their hopes up prematurely. It was just a matter of adding the missing skins (i) in case they ever become tameable, (ii) for more variety, and (iii) because some of those skins are so lovely it was a crime they were never used :) That and Noah was very kind to add them :) Thunderstomp's new skin was another one in this new batch of colour changes, just like clefthooves, mana wyrms were in 4.0.6.

Cross fingers they will be tameable in the future, though. Rams (still a couple of missing colours there), talbuks and gazelles (I think now their original skin is only available on critters, must go check that up) seem to naturally group as horned, ovine-like ruminants, as would stags and shoveltusks as antlered, elk-like ruminants. But then they could probably very easily be grouped as one big family of "Bucks" or something. They're all related and would perform a very similar function in combat.

Aaaaaand that's why they looked different. >_> I will fix that; my apologies. >_< And fixed!

I do hope that they'll eventually become tamable for those who want them, but wholeheartedly agree that it was an absolute crime that they weren't used previously! Whoever designed them had a really great eye for tone.

My poor little heart would officially go POOF if stags became tamable. Especially this skin:

Nice finds!
I also noticed a new Giraffe skin over in Sholazar. I wonder how many more creatures picked up a new skin?

Odd. I did suggest that missing giraffe skin for a new beast but not the one in Shol. as that already had a unique skin which would now be missing. Lemme check that up :/

Both of the giraffe colours were there when I had a look. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that the Sholazar Girafe is now a colour changer of sorts.

Hmm. Ok :) Damn. I suggested the striped one for the oases in Uld. At least both colours are still in Shol.
