[Discussion] Beastmaster - PvP - Arena

Unread post by Orni »

So, I'm going to do some PvP soon.
Here are my questions:
  • - Is beastmaster (still) a valuable Arena spec ?
    - Which bracket (2on2 or 3on3) is recommendable ?
    - Which partner(s) (class/spec) and tactics are recommendable ?
    - Which pet should be taken ? (I'm thinking about my spiritbeast)
    - Which talent configuration do you suggest ? (also for the pet) ?
Also, If you done some Arena PvP as a beastmaster recently, please post your ideas !

I've tried arenaing as a BM hunter. I didn't fare so well.

However, I read a blue post recently, commenting on a 2v2 team of a BM hunter and an enh shaman. Apparently a lot of people thought the burst from them was high I'm guessing. So, it seems a BM hunter works well in a burst strategy group.

For a pet, I would guess almost anything helps so long as it's ferocity (again, if we're using a "burn" strategy). A wolf would be a good choice, since their family skill can give you and him even more DPS for several more seconds.

As for spec, I can only guess, but this might work: http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?hunter# ... p3-q,11159
Pet talents: http://www.wowhead.com/?petcalc#0cd00dczzhoRb

Tactics, would be to burn the enemy down as soon as you can, as hard as you can. Blow everything, throw it all on, even the kitchen sink.

Partners, pretty much anything capable of burst. Ret pally, DK, Enh Shaman, etc. Just make sure your teammate knows what type of strategy you're employing.

So which of this partners would you prefer for a 2on2 or 3on3 rushing arena team:

-warrior (arms)
-shaman (enhancement)
-hunter (beastmaster)
-mage (fire)
-pala (retri)
-rogue
-dk

3on3 with 3 bursting dmg classes could really work out.

Ah, so many good choices. I might have to pick arms warrior, just because they enemy team will 90% of the time go for him first.

Paladin though, he can lay down some serious hurt if needed, and heal if noone is on him.

Enh shaman would be good too, nice totems and such. Lots of slowing skills.

Mage, again nice mechanics.

Rogue, DK, another hunter, heh. They're all good to me. Just depends what you would want the most.

But a 3v3 team of BM hunter, Enh Shaman, and Ret paladin, now that would be a mess and a half to fight. Especially if they burst hard.

You know that's why it's called "beastcleave," right? :D

Seriously, though, the push has been back toward marks on the whole, but the comps at their worst all had BM hunters.

For 3v3, BM works well because that's when you'll see all the CC rather then pure burst, and a perfectly timed BW can save the day.

Return pallys and holy pallys work well, and resto druids are great! I suggest return pally and a resto Druid. Both have good CC immunities to them.

As for a pet, discover what your teams weakness tend to be. If it's casters, get a core hound. Melee? Get a chimera, or a silithid. Taking too much damage too fast? Both crabs and ravagers can take one opponent out of combat temporarily.

Profs don't have too big an impact on arenas. But I'd say probably jewelcrafting, so you can get some extra stats.
