Considering that the ability to use the pet abandon macro was initially a bug.. "fixing" it was what they did when they made it not work, I believe. There's the new revive pet method that I've seen mentioned elsewhere, but not sure if it works on everything.

so then if that dosent work, the abandon method, then i would make the conclusion that 'temporary' buffed pets( the ones that lose said effect upon death) are no longer available due to the fact that upon death the buff is lost and must be more of the permanent variety?
cause BUMMER ..
*shouts* I WANT A SPARKLY PINK TALLSTRIDER !! *pouts, sticks bottom lip out and stomps little feet like any spoiled brat*

Those pets are actually still obtainable via the revive method mentioned in this guide: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7082

The macro works to abandon a pet, I know that for sure. Tame a pet, use the macro, it abandons them.
This is what it was meant to do to begin with.

Ok i have followed the death / revive tame that was posted but no luck.

I either get a 'your pet is not dead' message and of course no pet or the few times i did do a tame while it was dropping dead the 'strider revived with no sparkles. (if i had known they had sparkles before the abandon macro was fixed i would have gotten it then but at the time all i saw while flying overhead was a plain pink copy of Mazz)

Still probably just a timing thing , or have to interrupt revive just as it goes off?

Can they still be (or ever had been) tamed to retain the sparklies?

I do have to solo this and am at lvl 73 with boa items and my fire trap will crit a 700 >< cause i am friendless except for my pixeliated partners. =( *cries wholeheartedly*

Any suggestions or just keep plugging away at it? *starts hummin a modded version of just keep swimming*

Not the same thing at all, but you can always use a Pet Grooming Kit on your Mulgore Hatchling.
