i saw it on my server

Well, that's a new one! Looks like a tiger from Krasarang that somehow managed to keep its debuff....or someone's pet tiger picked up some sort of Sha debuff. Need some more info, though - did you happen to get a screenshot of the pet's portrait with its debuffs?

this needs a deep investigation, it's a very cool pet-effect! a Shadow Tiger

EDIT: have you tried to dismiss your pet when you are in a sha-touched-buff-area and recall it in the city? probably this keeps for some seconds the debuff? don't know

im sorry,my english is not so good.he(pet's master) saids it's from The Jade Forest,and when he used stampede you can see five shadow tigers with black water on the ground.Then I changed my account(hunter) ,want to ask more info,he has left.
i think it's not sha's debuff, or he used bug ?

It kind of looks like a sha-infested prowler to me, but the only comment on Wowhead indicates that it doesn't keep the effect upon being tamed - Petopia doesn't address it, though. Was the hunter you saw alliance or horde? If they're alliance, this can't be the cat they had and I'm out of ideas on the source.

Hes horde. You are right , maybe he tried some means to tame the tiger.

I think that those cats are only visible to horde in Jade Forest and they phase out. I've only done a few quests on my horde though so I can't be 100% sure. I just remember fighting them before I decided to track down Savage.

i'm alliance and i'm trying to tame them right now (so i can see them) they have not a debuff (visible) but an hidden debuff
we have to ask to the hunter if when he tamed that cat , the cat was under a specific condition, like suddenly dead, dismissed, polymorphed etc (that can leave the effect sometimes) and also if he got it normal, and then it becomes shadow for some reasons or it was shadow when tamed.

I tried the following with no luck:


(1) the old kill and tame trick. The pet stops at 1% and then gets tame. There something new in the code. Looking at logs the mob has 10-15k health gets hit for 47 K and no overkill. No dead pet, no rez.

(2) MC and tame same time. Timed it right because i had it tamed and my friend had it MCed.

Any more ideas? Or is this asian only?

Maybe they never fixed method (1) on the Asian servers.

Oh good, if alliance can see them, then Petopia needs to be updated.

yes i can see them , i've tried many methods, but i didn't had a mage friend to make the polymorph trick (the one used also to get the color-changing)

Ooh, if we can figure out how to tame it like that, this might be the first "visual" pet I'd want to tame. I already have the black tiger, but the extra little black trail would be very neat to have.

I was never into the trick tames back when they worked, so I can't help there. Good luck at trying to figure it out, though! Hope it's not the "different region servers forgot to patch this taming method" thing.

What's interesting about these cats is how their wild effect slowly fades into their natural color when they die. Usually, the change is instantaneous. Nice little visual effect, though I don't think this observation will help us solve anything.

if the user saw this pet on his live server, he can ask more infos when the hunter with this pet goes online.

with a normal translator you can find they call this pet Misha

i personally think the polymorph thing could work, but i cannot try at the moment: it probably works (if it has not be fixed) because taming a beast polymorphed and freezed will make the game lose the original skin id, so, if in the zone there are 3 tigers (same name, different colour) the tamed tiger will become a color changing every time you summon it. in this case, probably can be recalled the buff (that is not a normal buff)..so it worth trying i think

I tried taming it polymorphed, but it didn't work. Does having it in a trap make a difference? Because I didn't do that--was right before server restart

Oh, these are the brown skin with the sha effect. I thought they were black with sha. Hrm.

Well, I already said I had no experience with the old taming methods, but I gave it a shot anyway. Had a Mage guildie come out to Poly for me. We tried:
Poly+Freezing Trap=Nope
Poly+Freezing Trap+Dismiss Immediately=Nope
Poly+His Ice Trap=Nope
Poly+His Ice Trap+Dismiss Immediately=Nope

We also attempted the killing on tame thing but couldn't quite work that one out. >>; Again, never tried any of this before so total noob at it. Everything we tried the tiger slowly turned it's natural color after the tame completed. If dismissed before it faded completely, it would summon it's normal brown color. Maybe someone else will have better luck, someone atleast familiar with the old tame tricks. My tests might not be all that helpful, but I tried!

I just tried this out with a random mage, who was uber nice , and nothing seemed to work. The non-north american servers seem to be a lot different (case in point the mini-pet issue) so they may not fixed the glitch.

I'd love to tame one like that so much!
