Re: It works, Sha aura effect pet

Just decided to register since I managed to finally tame my cat; I think I've got a few tips that might be helpful for others. This is the method we used to tame three of them in the past 15 minutes:

1) Find a friend. I brought a level 90 hunter friend, since he wanted one too.
2) Start a duel with said friend. We found that this made the timing a lot more "lenient".
3) Shoot a few arcane shots and auto shots at it and get it down to 1% - 15% health.
4) Stop attacking, and have your friend stand at point-blank range of the cat.
5) Start casting Tame Beast, and while casting, spam Revive Pet as hard as you can. My friend also had me as his focus, so he could see my cast bar and time it more carefully.
6) At the VERY END of your Tame Beast cast, have your friend use some instant cast big-damage move to finish it off (Kill Shot, in our case). We found that waiting until there were 0.3 seconds left in the Tame Beast cast worked well.

Should you succeed, this is what will happen:
- The pet will die, and the corpse will vanish completely.
- Revive Pet will do nothing, and you will be told "Your pet is not dead".
- You WILL NOT see the golden flash. If you saw the flash, you did not succeed.
- The pet will not show up in your stable or in your pet slots.

At this point, you should log off, and you'll see a brown kitty behind you in your character selection screen. Log back in, and you'll see him in your pet slots. Summon him, and show off!

Additionally, in the name of SCIENCE, we tamed an extra one and tested the effects of killing the pet. The results were rather unfortunate, but we thought you should know:

Good luck all!

Sorry for the double-post, but I come with good news! I'll make another thread about this in a minute, probably.

The oil-stained wolf is STILL tamable with the method I just posted above! We just tried it and succeeded about 5 minutes ago:

Have fun!

EDIT: We've now also tried it on Ghostpaw Runners, The Lone Hunter, and those pink diseased bears in Ashenvale -- all were successful :D

Hehe, I didn't know if he wanted his name censored in the first one so I did it just to be safe, but when we tamed the oil wolves he said he didn't care :p

Yeah, I agree - even if someone were to miraculously pull that off, they'd just get the method nerfed again and bring down the banhammer on themselves due to taming a ridiculously overpowered pet. We've discussed the bannable potential of taming pets with buffs that impact gameplay before; all that still applies.

So I was unsuccessful in my attempts about an hour ago and decided to take a break.

I just started my attempts again and noticed that casting revive now interrupts the tame cast.

That is one speedy hotfix!

We noticed this too, but fear not! We just used the tried and true /cast [nochanneling] Revive Pet macro and it still worked fine -- just spam it as usual.

Just in case you didn't notice, I typed the macro wrong (it's 6 AM, maybe I should sleep) -- it should've been /cast [nochanneling] Revive Pet -- but you get the idea. Good luck!

Good call; fixed it in my quotation so no one gets confused. I didn't actually notice because it's late and I won't be taming til tomorrow. Thanks again! :D

I can actually shed some light on the rez pet thing...

If rezzing stop you from taming, make sure you don't have one of the new pets in there. I had that problem to until I stabled my sha tiger before I got my owl. So for now on I tame these with no pets active.

I noticed when I was having trouble with res pet, I could fix it by taming one normally then ditching it.
It seems to happen when you summon a pet then stable.

Not sure why, but that's just what it looks to be.

Siggy under construction!

I feel like I should mention this now that it's helped 2 people get this pet semi-easily:

BIND THE REVIVE MACRO TO YOUR MOUSE SCROLLWHEEL

It helps a LOT.

I think I've got more good news! The sha-buffed crocolisk, Coldbite Matriarch, appears to keep its appearance buff through death. We haven't successfully tamed one yet, because it's got over a million health and takes a while to whittle it down, combined with the fact that it's a quest mob and there's only one of them. However, if you kill the mob, the sha buff stays on it while it's dead. I'll post again later once we've tamed one successfully.
