Tamed Iceclaw recently, and.. is this normal or did it break

i had this happen on my savage once so i feel i should tell and worn you that when your pet dies the smoke goes away.
i wanted to test if it went away if it died and i didn't want to find out the hard way so i had a friend hunter dual me and kill only my pet.when i rez him the smoke was gone.it was cool though while it lasted.
