Oil/Fire/Ghost effect GONE!

Unread post by Divixon »

all started where i herd that the ghost armored pig from rfk is going to disapear in WOD - after taming went to stables, grabed my fire piggy... and no fire? i did do a angry german kid.. because it took so long to get it tbh..

my oil wolf also.. looks like normal.. my blue ghost carrion bird - ghostly effect - also gone.. so basicly blizzard screwed them up and got the old non effect.. -_-

i never took them out unless its a new patch/ect they always stay in my stables..

anyone else?

verry diapointing blizz..

I just checked on mine. My pig is still on fire and my wolf still has his sword, so not sure what might've happened with yours. I'm assuming you didn't do any arenas or anything like that?

naw i kept them in my stables once i tamed them, just take them out once per patch to make sure their effect stayed. special pets stay in the stable at all time lol..

i did read about the effects being lost due to arena/death/ect thats why they are collecting alot of dust in the pens..

but thats so weird if yours stayed the same.. blizz might just hate me.. /cry

Hmmm thats rather unsettling. They did say quite some time ago that they were hoping to take the visual effects and attach them to the models themselves and not be linked to any kind of buff/debuff. Maybe this is a transitional thing and they are just removing anything at all that is a buff/debuff.

However…. my fear is that this is a reaction to something all too familiar. There have been hunters as of late, still managing to use beneficial buffs to enhance their DPS via using Stampede with previously buffed pets. There has been a lot of talk about it on many different forums (I could link many of them, but if your keen look it up yourself, I don’t feel thins forum needs them) and hunters even quite happy to say they do.

This was something that blizzard was aware of, but there was no fix announced regarding it. However maybe they finally did do something. Maybe their solution has now ended all apets with a cosmetic buff to suffer. If this is the case, GG :(

blah i had a feeling this might happen, wich is why i check every patch tbh -_-

meh.. whats the worst that can happen? take my red fanged maggot from dread wastes?
or my green maggot from ungoro crator?..

welp.. that sucks tbh.. though the bird took longer to tame more then the wolf and pig itself..

there goes my pride n joy in unique pet collecting >.<

I guess when I first got my effects pets guys my thought was, "Well at any point, they can take the effect away." So I only tamed the ones where I had already planned on getting the same pet model without the effect. I've taken them into scenarios, dungeons and raids, maybe even Brawler's Guild. So far nothing's happened. But I guess it's a "knock on wood" situation. :(

I think your worms are safe though. Those aren't effects pets, they were just available for a short time.

I checked on my Sha crocolisk this morning, his effect is intact.

I hardly use him very much as I'm paranoid about the buff as well, I'm really sorry yours were removed Ziroth. :(

Nothing like a heart attack to wake one up... x.x I don't think I've ever logged on so fast.

Sadly, I have to agree with the others... My sha-tiger and Kung Din haven't been reverted, either. Sorry, Ziroth... I really hope Blizzard successfully makes a mechanic that allows the taming of appearance buffed pets sometime really soon. It really sucks, and is kind of unfair, that people randomly loose the pets they worked so hard to get. Especially when it's the consequence from inconsiderate people who just want to ruin the fun for everyone else. -.-

Also, as a little side note
- I doubt you will loose your maggots. I foolishly released my green Un'goro maggot shortly after taming him... and then regretted it. I waited until about a month and a half ago to write in for pet recovery, in the hopes that a GM would be able to return him to me. I did not mention that he was the green maggot, just gave them the NPC ID (I hadn't named him yet, either), and after a nervous night, I got a reply telling me that he was in my stables, and that they hoped I would enjoy having my maggot back. Since they're not buff pets that can be used in an unfair advantage, they seem to have no issue with players having them.

So at the very least, you definitely still have those two.

So sorry you lost them.
You can certainly submit to a GM to have the restored to you with the appearance buff. It's extremely rare but I believe someone on here did get their appearance buff pet fully restored.

My only other thought is submit a ticket asking if there was a complaint against you or something along those lines. Maybe inquire as to why they were removed. May make some headway there. If it was Blizzard's fault (so to speak) maybe they'll have a hear and put the buffs back.

Not the best options but options none the less.

That sucks. This made me dig out my extra backup oil wolf who has been stabled since Wrath (was still lvl 77)... still has the oil coat thankfully. Once I can copy my toon to alpha, I'll see if everything remains intact.

Just checked my stables. My ghost wolf still sports his sword, my hawk is still a void, and my beetle still has the black streak following it.
