Thoughts on taming Timeless Isle Rares

Hi,

I've only been back to WOW for maybe the past 3 months, but I've recently started taming some of the rares on Timeless Isle. I haven't really looked too much into them on whos available - but I was able to "save" both the Emerald crane and the Great Furyshell Turtle.

I asked Sylviadragon already and she said its fine since they have a quick respawn. When I tamed the Green crane, another player was just sitting there somewhat dumbfounded I think.

I'm now going to try and get the Cranegnasher.

Scale of 1-10 - how wrong is this?

I don't get why it would be wrong, There are so many ""Rares"" on the Isle, and their spawn times are so short.
on a scale of 1-10...0.

I'm not sure if Cranegnasher is tameable or not. But I tamed a great furyshell. *shrug*

I tamed Furyshell. My thing is as long as no people are waiting for the rare, it's fair game. If people are waiting I go after another spawn later.

Even if a rare has a "short" spawn, it doesn't make it any different than taming any other mob. Typically, it's just polite to wait until no one is around to try and tame Timeless Isle rares, but honestly, if you get lucky enough to snag one just before everyone else gets to it, so be it. Enjoy your new pet!

Yeah i too tamed furyshell so go nuts, ppl will have a cry about anything!

It's there for that purpose too. I can see people freaking out as some of the models like the green crane and Cragnasher are common models that can be found else where that aren't rare spawns. But the unquie models go to town on them. If blizz didn't want them to be tamable they would have flagged them that way. Either way don't worry about it it's no different then eveyone killing rares by themselves before anyone else has a chance to get to them.

There's only one I think would be rude to tame, and it (Monstrous Spineclaw) is too high level. It takes a long time usually to farm the other crabs in order to get it to spawn (I think about a 1% chance on a crab respawn). If someone else has been farming those in order for a chance at the minipet, then they should have the chance to kill it for the minipet. If you farmed the crabs, though, then there'd be no problem in taming it.

The other beasts either are on a timer, or spawn often enough (from people not specifically trying to spawn them even) that its not a problem if you got them.

I personally think it's fine. I wouldn't do it because none of the pets interest me, but if someone else likes them I think they should by all means tame the pet.


Honestly if people get mad about losing a couple timeless coins and whatever, that's their problem - There's a boat load of other rares! lol.

I agree that if you can pull of the tame before a TI beast is killed than kudos!!!

However. Since I didn't see this said already. Cranegnasher IS NOT tamable currently. So maybe in WoD he will be.

Guess it boils down to first come first serve. If you get to the rare in question before anyone else does, okay go ahead and tame it. But certainly don't expect other people to be nice to you or allow you to do so, and expect frequent griefing. Furyshell is really the only one that I can give hunters credit for--it's a unique model. But if you're taming the rares that share skins with anything else, then yeaaaah I have no sympathy for you whatsoever if someone kills it before you can tame it. Obviously griefing half way through isn't okay, but expected. It's TI.

So really if you get there first, cool. But if people are obviously waiting for back-up before they kill it, or see if others are interested, then taming it is sort of a jerk move, especially because they got there first. Rare mobs aren't just for hunters, even if they're tamable.

I've encountered many tamable rares while being alone many times but my stable were always full.

i'm glad the consensus seems to be that its fine for the most part - just was curious on other's takes.
