Re: Possible Argus Pets?
I rather like the new Marsuuls, their designs are clever, fresh and interesting.... However it actually really of annoys me that they would go to all that effort in a new model, artwork and the likes, to then slap on a low rez skin. Due to the style/design of it being more "cute" it has overly large eyes, and because of the small skin file, they have terrible grainy/jagged/muddy edges to them, and frankly make it look dated already... it's such a waste.
I've said it before (they've been a let down on this a lot this expansion) but the rez on the eyes of anything is so so important.

there's a chance that the screenshot made on lower graphic setting.

huge ass rat it is thenValnaaros wrote:Hm... Not sure which of those names would fit best.pop wrote:Valnaaros wrote:Wain
I think them being in the same family as Porcupines (assuming they don't get their own), would be alright. However, they would need to change the family name to something else.
Rodent
Quillbeast
Buckteeth
Vermin
Scavenger
huge ass rat
I still hope the marsuul kit renamed into joey.

Unfortunately Wayne's already confirmed the small skin file, suggesting they may have been only intended to be a battle pet (which would make sense as they do look more rodentesque that bestial.)pop wrote:there's a chance that the screenshot made on lower graphic setting.

Re: Possible Argus Pets?
the face is def low res, hence me sharing it. both that screenshot and the one above were taken w/ around graphic settings 7 or 8 (in game settings).
edit: i think its cute af even with the low res skin though (not that i wouldn't prefer a proper beast resolution for the things)

+1 to thisWain wrote:It reminds me, though. I just wanted to say how much I love the huge colour range in most of these new creatures. They're really beautiful and varied. No "three skins only" in this lot! The artists have gone to a lot of work and I for one am really appreciative of them.
these colour schemes are fab
i'm so pumped
i hope we see them all in game

Re: Possible Argus Pets?
Well w3e don't need it to be big to be tameable. I mean our porcupines are relatively small. Having another small sized pet is a good thing imho.SpiritBinder wrote:Unfortunately Wayne's already confirmed the small skin file, suggesting they may have been only intended to be a battle pet (which would make sense as they do look more rodentesque that bestial.)pop wrote:there's a chance that the screenshot made on lower graphic setting.

These ones were p obvious to find so most of you have probably seen them already (since they all have panthara in the name) but I'll list anyways since I wanted to see how many panthara skins had an associated npc in the database yet:
Panthara Shadowfang
http://ptr.wowdb.com/npcs/122023-panthara-shadowfang
Darkfang

obv most of this can change and some/all might not even be tamable (although I think they probably will be tamable???) but it's nice to see 7/8 panthara skins with an associated npc. the only one missing that I can't find an npc for is my fave tho:

Re: Possible Argus Pets?
Vermin would be perfect. It's vague enough to encompass any sort of annoying creature, and there's no need to worry about it being in the same animations and skeletons like Spirit Beasts. Armadillos, Beavers, Porcupines, Marsuuls, and Rats from Karazhan would fit perfectly. Give them a Mortal Wounds ability for the entire family, and it'd be perfect; Armadillos carry disease, Beavers bite your nipple off, Porcupines stab you, Rats bite and poison you, and Marsuuls...do whatever fishrats do.pop wrote: Vermin

Re: Possible Argus Pets?
@Funk. Whilst helpful, we won't be bothering too much with the DB until all of the obvious stuff has been catalogued (mobs found out in the world). Once that is done, then we start using the DB to find more hidden things, such as rares and whatnot.

Re: Possible Argus Pets?
And thanks for all the links back there. I'm slowly catching up now the models are done (just finished the Warcraft Mounts ones tonight, at 4 am ) but I'm also leaving for New Zealand for a couple of weeks in a few days time, so we'll see what I get done before I go. Once I'm there I should still be checking in here regularly but I won't be doing database stuff.

It's quite feasel that this will be a tameable Marsuul, much like Ghostcrawler was a spirit beast.
...Please don't be a spirit beast Marsuul.

Re: Possible Argus Pets?
I don't think there will be too much, if anything, to find this week. They repaired the rest of the questline and adding some more items to the database. To my knowledge, no new areas have been opened up.
Re: Possible Argus Pets?
Yeah, mainly it's actually *playable* again since it seems like they fixed the crash bug.Valnaaros wrote:I don't think there will be too much, if anything, to find this week. Side note: I'm actually pretty happy with the zone design so far, all things considered.

Re: Possible Argus Pets?
Indeed. I'm sure within the next week or two we'll be getting new content
As am I. Of course, I am a Draenei at heart, so going to Argus is amazing in and of itself

Re: Possible Argus Pets?
ok, I slapped a few links on my post and got rid of a few things that changed names but I probably wont edit it again since I'm sure it's still gonna change a lot.
worth noting is how many void warpstalkers are there. we'll see if they are out in the world as they open up new areas, but I think they probably will be. whether or not they will stay beasts or be tamable is to be determined, of course.
I still kinda wish we got an updated warpie model though, but I guess it's not too late to hope
(note that I'm not unhappy with things so far)
