Re: The Optimal Pet Loadout
looks good, but I hope they go through and give useful abilities to all (or at least most) the families this time around.

Re: The Optimal Pet Loadout
I dunno about leaving corehounds and quilen off if you are BM. It's true that the buff and the rez are the same, but that extra something from molten hide or stone armor is still an extra something.
That said, I second that hope that all pets will bring something to the table again in the next expansion

Re: The Optimal Pet Loadout
I personally always run with a turtle or shale spider when questing in the new areas. Mainly so I can solo everything in large groups without having to pay much attention...lol. With last Stand active they have about 8m hp.

For me it's basically:
Pet I like
Pet I like
Pet who I like who looks good with my transmog
Pet I like
Pet I like
Min/maxing my pets takes the fun customization aspect out of being a hunter for me.

Re: The Optimal Pet Loadout
I generally run
Tank pet - turtle/shale spider
Corehound - incase I run into a group without heroism
Two fun pets
Empty slot for taming
They should all match my tmog which I switch weekly lol so I rotate my pets a lot.
I wish they'd create more tank families with a damage reduction shield and maybe a couple more that can bust out a hero:(

This is 1000% me! Luckily I don't raid or do much with others where my pet choices would become a topic for debate.Lee wrote:For me it's basically:

For me
Corehound for groups
Quilen for oops
My shoveltusk, because I love him. But sometimes something else. Like my perpetually unnamed clefthoof
Feathermane
Spirit beast

Re: The Optimal Pet Loadout
These days I tend to keep Bloodlust/Brez/Spirit Mend pets with me and then alternate the other two slots with personal favourites. The spirit mend is honestly a bit negligible, especially in a raiding environment, it's not going to make much difference, but being able to bloodlust or rez someone is definitely a must-have.

Re: The Optimal Pet Loadout
I very rarely will pick a pet for utility use alone, since I much prefer to use whatever pet I feel like it without being held back by each individual role. As a general rule of thumb, though, I only have two/three pets with me at one time, whom are:
Mormont, the bear, for tanking purposes
Felrius, the wolf, for more general use
Thalanos, the Dragonhawk, for pretty general use
It means that I have spare slots if I come across a pet I'd like to tame, so there's no worry as to whether I can or can't tame away. I do need to invest in a bloodlust/rez duo, but I've never really found a pet I like that (for Krys) that has stuck. If I was more into raiding, then I'd definitely need to fix that gap in my stable. My third slot is the one that changes the most, since it's my free ticket to picking a pet out of the stable, whichever one I'm feeling that day, and then using them. If I'm doing PvP that day, though, it'll be swapped out for my raven, who is useful for dealing with healers.

Re: The Optimal Pet Loadout
This would be me but I do raid, so I do have to make some compromises. So it's more like:Niabi wrote:This is 1000% me! Luckily I don't raid or do much with others where my pet choices would become a topic for debate.Lee wrote:For me it's basically:

Pet I like that doesn't match tmog
Pet I like in tenacity spec
Spirit mend
Quilen rez
Thankfully if there's a specific function (i.e. bloodlust) my raid wants me to bring they have no problem summoning me back after I go fetch the appropriate pet from the stable.

Re: The Optimal Pet Loadout
I still wish they would let us pick the ability of our pets with BM getting an extra ability. With certain abilities not being able to be picked with each other of course (to prevent OP pets).
That way, people could use whatever pet they liked the most while still being able to have the "desired" abilities.
