I'd love it if you could find this. I have a mac, but I'd love to be able to edit some of my pets' emotes as long as I could find a place to show me how :D

~VelkynKarma
I just dug around some - turns out I actually linked it in another thread - but the BRK link returns an error 404. :( I think he must have blasted all his old archives.

Maybe you could mail him and ask politely if he has it stored somewhere easily accessible?

Hey there-

OK, I've been using this for a few days, and the corehound emotes are PRICELESS! The vase one especially. I've had people whisper me asking how I made Frost "do" that, and have pointed many hunters first to get the add-on, and then here to get to know us from these conversations!

You perfectly captured the feel of how I wanted my pet's to be, and I thank you for that. As soon as Frost hits 80, I'll be trying all my other pets, and will post how the emotes for those fmailies work!

Thanks so much for all your hard work!!

Re: PetEmote Addon - Zip File! Someone test this, please?

Unread post by Teigan »

I wasn't able to attach the files to a forum PM or post, because the file types were not allowed. Somehow, never occured to me to zip them and attach them that way! I really hope this works, for everyone's sake. It would be more painless for all of us.

Awesome! :D I will definitely try it out!

Quick question, do I just move the files to the PetEmote file? Or do I have to replace/rename certain files?

Sorry, not very good with addons.

You should just have to throw the 3 files into the PetEmote folder and it'll work. :) As far as I know if you've never made custom emotes before they won't replace files, they'll be new ones.

It might ask you to replace files, even if you haven't made custom emotes. If you haven't and it does, let it replace them.

I would have used a .rar instead of a .zip, but either way, it's a really good way to download it. I suggest this thread gets a Sticky!

Also, do you have plans to upload it on Curse, or WoWInterface or such? If so, you might want to ask the original author for permission first.

I also exist on DeviantArt.

Well, considering that the first emote to go off was Gumbo bellowing joyfully, I think this is a success. xD Unless that was an original; I have no idea. >_> At any rate, the download worked! I did have to move the custom files into the main directory due to an extra "New Folder" in there, but no big deal. :D

Thanks for the sharing/effort. :)

It's WoW>Interface>Addons>PetEmote, right? Not the Addons folder where you save them before extracting them?

I *thought* it sounded like you! :D He very definitely approves then, since he not only did that right away, but that was his second emote as well. (He did do another one after, scratching himself with a claw, so everything is indeed working. Huzzah!)

I was a fan of the original Pet Emote. It added life to my pets and often some quirky moments. I'll never forget this time I was in a dungeon back on the old server and some guild mate or party member had said something. And my cat, just after they had spoken, coughed up a hairball. Apparently Mercado the lynx did not agree with the statement. It got some giggles.

But Teigan's efforts to give "forgotten" families emotes has been joyous. My warp stalkers now join the rest of my pets in the personality department-not that they didn't have personality before. I had always wanted to see this family with emotes, but was never saavy enough to tinker with something like an add-on. I'm looking forward to logging on to my lower level hunter and her pets and seeing spider and bear emotes in their new glory. And hyena ones too.

Much thanks to Teigan for taking this on. *cheers*!

Nice that someone is keeping up the work on addons like this. :)

Quick question, though: Does this actually add an emote line to the pet itself, or does it just make one out of your characters emote line?
Is "BigCat stretches and yawns loudly" or "Hunterman's pet BigCat stretches and yawns loudly"?
I've been looking for the first example for some time, but afaik it is (or at least was) not possible and the closest you could get was the second example, which frankly just annoyed me.
Don't get me wrong, I see the appeal of the second, but to me it just feels like I'm pointing at my pet and going "Behold the actions of my pet!"..

So pleeeeaaseeee say it's the first! *bigpuppyeyes*

This is just plain awesome. I can't wait to log into my hunter, and see what you've done. This is a really nice thing you've done. ^_^

For people that have the addon, they will see "Fluffy wags his tail happily." People without the addon, though, will see "Character's wolf Fluffy wags his tail happily." or something like that. It's impossible to make an emote appear without the character precursor to someone else.

Awww... was afraid of that.. :(

Getting ready to transfer to an RP realm, and been hoping for an addon that would add some personality to my pets..
Oh well.
Keep up the good work all the same ^^
