OK I just respeced my first spec to BM becouse of a debate I was having with a few hunters and wanted to test it out for myself. Also I used my wolf pet and his extra points as well. To my suprise. I increased my DPS and Damage don by 1.5-2k! Thats right you read that correctly. And I am toping the DPS and damage charts (i was before but now I am 1-2 instead of 4-6) I was doing about 6-8k in 25s and now doing 7-10k.

Anyone else notice this? I would love for you all to either post your best BM specs and compair. Lets see if we can find the best BM spec possible for DPS and raiding!

That's great. Can you post a recount screenshot? Maybe list your talent build and an armory link? To include pet talents and what buffs by chance if you have them on hand- and rotation maybe? If its not too much to ask??

What is you gem and enchant focus, AP or agi, or other?
I wouldn't mind taking a look at this spec, I always like BM

the only gems I try and use are Agi gems.

I use the typical hunter enchants too.

I use bustanutt wolf on my BM spec for raids.

Have a look at the spec and let me know what you think. I will try and get a recount SS next time I do a 25 man raid. As far as shot rotation... as MM and Surv this is important. Not so much in BM.

I find that, in the few 25mans that I do, Invigoration is just not needed to keep my mana up, though I would recommend dropping two points from frenzy and putting them in catlike reflexes. Our pets crit so often that they really only need that 60% chance to increase their attack speed.

Thanks. I might have to give that a try. have you monitored how much your frenzy has over proced though to back up that?

I've never seen it drop from my pet against the target dummy, and in raids his crit is so high it's almost stupid lol so mathematically there shouldn't be any chance of it dropping once from my pet. Plus this is one of those elitist jerks recommendations that I took to improve my dps some months ago so it has sound numbers behind it somewhere...

Pet spec wise, I'd drop just one point from bloodthirsty for Charge, it won't make a big difference but you only need one point in bloodthirsty for the desired 'always happy' effect.

All I can say is that different playstyles and shot rotations may work better for some hunters than for others. I found my dps went up when I switched to marks from surv and BM, but that's because I was happier playing marks than the other specs (minus the loss of my dear devilsaur). I have always preferred the marks shot rotation to the others.

So IMO, if you notice that BM works better for you than the other specs, go for it! If you know how to play the spec and it makes your personal dps go up, then you should play it (so long as you're not desperately needed as a particular spec for your 10m raid or something).

Very interesting. But yeah, different specs work for different people, which a lot of people forget when they try new specs, hehe.

Different specs may work for different people, but some still can do better than others

You never know if it works better for you or not, that's why it's always fun to try new specs, even if it's only a variant of the one you have.

I've been BM since WoW was released, and rode the waves of "BM sucks balls" in Vanilla wow to "OMG BM ROCKS" in BC back to "BM sucks" in Wrath.

However, lately I've noticed my dps ride much higher again- and I out dps Surv and MM hunters to boot! I'm quite pleased to see BM be on par with the other specs in PvE now (I mainly only play PvE). I don't expect to be the top spec but at least be comparable to others, and I'm thrilled I don't get groans when I join PuG's now!

I almost always use Precious (Loque'Nahak), though I'm testing if my DPS is higher with my Wolf currently. It seems the Wolf boosts my dps a bit more, but I'm not all that much into min/max'ing- just having fun.

Yep BM is viable for raiding but, if you are doing that much more dps as BM over MM I would say with no fear of being wrong that you are just playing the BM spec better. BM is much easier to get the max dps out of. MM is very dependent on the correct usage of Rapid Fire and Readiness as well as making sure that you use Chimera and Aimed shot as soon as they come off cooldown . If your timing is off even by a little, you will lose considerable dps. I know this because I play both specs and I too am much better at playing the BM spec. I am not very good at handweaving the shot rotation of MM.

What's a good rotation for a pure survival hunter then?
