If you tame this pet with the full aura and let it die/die yourself, it does not revert to the "plain" appearance. There is actually a "half" aura stage that results, fainter than the fresh one but noticeable compared to the standard tame result. The bird retains a fainter aura around the torso/wings but loses the undearneath aura.

Full aura -> Post-death aura -> no aura

Odd, I repeated the taming process to result in the fainter aura twice, one to check when the pet died, and the other to check when the hunter but not the pet dies. Killed the pet again afterwards to see if there was any further change, of which there was none.

i abandoned it, flew to BEM and tamed another. let it die a few times, then lvled it to 80, kept the partial mist this time.

only other factor i didnt test on this 2nd one was running a dungeon. with the first one i ran H UP while lvling it.

Did you tame it with the macro, or with it vanishing?
That is probably where your problem lies.

1st one was timing it so it'll vanish as the tame completed. 2nd one was with the macro.

Hi long time lurker

I have tamed the Angered Arrakoa Protector 2x now both timed/despwned/revive method. Both sucessful tames.

The only difference the 1st tame there was lag and I dced from the server had to restart and relog.

My problem is I cant get the the Angered Arrakoa Protector to keep its mist effect after it dies. So is this pet really a perm appearanace buff pet or it has recently been hotfixed to be temp unlike the oily pets/flame boar.

Sorry if this is old news and I have missed the answer in another thread.

I believe that even when tamed correctly, it loses SOME of its mist when killed--the bit that clings to the ground, leaving only the mist clinging to the actual bird.

After a ton of tries i got my bird and of course i went to see what the chimeras were. i think with those its going to require a timed kill / tame to do if its possible. it is a buff thats added in by an npc that pats the area. I have noone patient enough to attempt this for any length of time to see if its possible.

good luck to any who can get this done

Nevermind, he does know them, they just are not on the pet bar proper. If you look in the spellbook, there there are, right where they should be. :D

I can't seem to move my pets spells to the bar myself. They just won't go.

The shadowform buff that the Azshara chimera get is a 20s timed buff. Even if you go trick-tame it successfully the buff will have worn off by the time you logged off and back in. On that note, the same goes for the warp stalkers in last area Vashjr even though they don't get a visible buff.

Glitched action bar fix: spec pet to at least Dash/Dive. Replace Dash/Dive on the action bar with another skill. Respec pet, again to at least Dash/Dive. Replace Dash/Dive with another skill. Rinse, repeat.

I'm not sure if this still works in the latest patch...
What is the "fail" sound? I swear that a few times as soon as my tame bar finished, the bird would let out a squawk and then vanish. No tame fail message and no flash of light of a tamed bird. Log out and back in, but still no pet.

can anyone confirm that this method still works?

You have to attempt to tame another pet before you logout. I just tamed the Lone Hunter using the updated method found here: http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic ... ndon+macro

Although I don't think the new method works on the bird since the bird is timed. I got one on my troll after it was first discovered and it took me probably 20 minutes or so.

Thanks, Tyger. Took your advice and got it on the first attempt. XD
I can't get over how gorgeous this birdy looks with the blue mist around her. She definitely stands out in a crowd.

Thank you soooo much again. I was about to give up on this one.

Oh good! I wasn't sure if the alternative method worked on the carrion bird since it's a timed thing. I got my troll's like right after this was found out and haven't tamed one since. But anyway, I'm glad you got your birdy! They're amazing looking. :D

I can confirm, as of this date and patch (2011 - 07 - 22, patch 4.2.0) this still works.
It took a few retries, but it all went according to the instructions.

Now I just don't have a translucent bird, it also has that mist/glow effect too.
Thanks!
