[Complete Guide] How to Tame, and What to Tame - A full list

A Brief explanation of This Taming Method:
Some beasts have an extra Visual effect when they are walking around as hostile beasts.
When these beasts are tamed, they are immediatly "Cleaned" and will have lost the Visual bonus.
Making the pet Vanish immediatly after it has been tamed, skips this Cleaning process, maintaining the Visual Bonus.

*Making the Beast vanish with an Item.
  • Some beasts are involved in a quest, that has an item that will make the beast vanish, the only known beast to do this at the moment, is the Oil-staned Wolf. We are in desperate search for an item that will have a vanishing effect on all beasts.
*Timed taming of summoned beasts with limited existance
  • A good example here is the Blue-Mist Carrion Bird. By timing the length of the summoned beasts life with your in-game stopwatch, you can make sure your Tame Beast will end exactly at the moment it vanishes from the second time forward, after that you just keep making adjustments to your timing.
*Killing and Resurrecting the pet at the exact moment of a finished tame.
This Method requires perfect timing. The beast has to Die, and become tamed, at the same time. And instantly afterwords you have to use your revive ability, to make it Vanish. If done right you will probably not even see the Golden light of a succesfull tame. This can be done with your DoTs, or Friends. If you bring a Party member along, make sure they "Focus" you so they can see your tame bar, making their damage almost always apply at the exact right time.
Tip:
In my experience it was easyest to have a Rogue party member, who has "focus" on you, to see the cast-bar of the taming, so he can time a perfect backstab killing it instantly. ~also, he can sap the target, making it all a bit more comfterable.

These 5 pets are currently the only known pets that will save their look.

Burning boar time? =)

Edit: well, I'm talking about that post: http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic ... 68#p158168.
The author decided to delete the text with no given reason.
Apparently, a burning boar from a quest in an horde staring zone has been griffed, or griff-tamed :p

I will check the burning boars tomorrow, Now my horde friend is sleeping who will have to set them on fire :P
Maybe some americans can check.
Im off to bed in a bit too.

PS: I will make guides just like the ones i already made, for the Sword-wolf and the Oil-wolf. (with credits to their original tamers ofcourse).
Because that way I can add those links to this list, to prevent people from having to ask about them.

Good night

I happened to look at this. /script PetAbandon() means that you are *abandoning* the pet, doesn't it? As in, releasing it into the wild? I would be careful with that one if so; Blizzard might end up fixing the abandon bug that some people are having! And in doing so, it might 'fix' this method.

Just saying. Wouldn't want to get the tame and then immediately abandon your pet. :(

Could you put the link in for the threads of all the sticking critters please? At a later date might be a pain to find the original threads again for the faffier ones like say the oil stained wolf :)

Amazing! I know I will be taming some of these beasts before they get a chance to take it away (if they do). I was to give a huge THANK YOU /HUG to everyone who has contributed. :)

I just want to clarify: with the non-permanent buffs, does it ONLY go away from the pet or hunter dying? What about being dismissed by dismiss pet, mounting up, or being placed in the stables? This may seem like a silly question, but I want to know for sure before I tame them. :)

Aria this thread clearly says which ones are permanent. please read thorougly, they are even the only ones with pictures.
And yes, Only trough Death. and for some possibly entering Arena.
the non-hardcore ones can be griffed permanently

You misread my post completely.

I asked if you would put the LINKS to the original threads for the pets that stick. Several such as the Oil stained wolf do not have this link in this thread. I ask for this so this thread a one stop shop for them without having to trawl the forums to find the original thread for each individual sticking pet. There is no need to get snarky over it :/

Griff this is great info :) Thanks for putting it all together in one thread.

Question though, is the PetAbandon thing needed? I'm just a bit confused on what it does, or why spamming Revive Pet is needed for some of the tames. Thanks!
