Those lil pets that stick to you like a limpet
I've got a few pets myself, who seem to have stuck to me. Felrius is one of them. Several months ago, in one of my socialising moments, I found a friend. A raiding friend. She decided I'd be a good raider, and I applaud her for training me, as it were. So one night, a friend of hers, who happened to be a hunter, told me what to do. Survivals spec, rotations and stuff. I asked about pets. I couldn't use my Loque, I realised. He recommend wolves. I popped over to somewhere, Ashenvale, to get myself a lil fluffy white one :3 and passed near Felwood. And, I saw this diseased wolf wandering around. He looked up at me, with big brown eyes, as if begging to make me tame him. Unable to resist, I left the white fluffy wolf idea to one side and tamed this cutie. He was dubbed Felrius. And I fell in love. He's been in every raid with me and saved me from crazy Zandalari Warbringers many times, and some Alliance in PvP. He was in my first, terrifying raid and will never leave my side.
Turtle is my next one. He was more recent. He hasn't got a name, I feel so bad, but he's also saved me several times. Not much on him really, but he was an automatic tame. I saw this shiny turtle sitting there and had to have one. He's my main tank, especially on Timeless Isles fun days, and I doubt he'll be leaving my stable anytime soon.
My next, is Savage. He's the second newest, depending on what way you look at it. I had random urges, just like all these pets, to try and find him. Surprisingly, I did find his tracks, but of course he was near the river and me, being as blind as a bat, was two inches from the screen and squinting as it tried to find him. Once I did tame him, I took him to a BG. And we lost. Once. Twice. Thrice. Four times. Now named Saber, I realised that my good luck in finding him straight away was costing me. My unlucky pet, Saber isn't used as much, but he's still there.
Next up, my Dragonhawk Duskwing. He's the rare black spawn, not sure where from, and while he's frail, he's my baby! Unfortunately he's not used too much, for many different reasons, but every now and then he pops out and shows everyone who runs the place while he's around ^.^ he's fabulous and he knows it.
My last pet, who I tamed last night, is a retame. Without a name yet (perhaps one of you has a good name), this Blue Direhorn won his way into my life. A lil trip to the Isle of Giants, and I was looking to get Volcantros back. Volcantros was my white Direhorn, who I used for a while but couldn't bond with. This Blue direhorn was wandering around, gazing at the sea but standing well back. --I later discover he had a fear of water. Perhaps it's coz he's too bulky to stay afloat-- and I tame. He doesn't put up a fight but is released straight away. I couldn't take him. However, when with Felrius, I was soloing a Direhorn. Every time I summoned a beast to help me, that Blue Direhorn came up. Every. Time. After the fights, Felrius looked off. He kept sniffing, and heading away before returning. I know what to do. I go to the same Direhorn, and find him gazing at the sea. This time, he looks at me. Felrius sniffs the air again. So, I tame the Blue one. And he clicks. I don't know why, but perhaps it's because he was protecting me almost, I fell in love. Names for him will be influenced by Thunder or lightning or something blue, but I give you guys free cookies if you can name him, and the turtle for me ^.^ sorry for the wall of text I tend to gabber a lot. I'll stop now actually. So, what are your stories behind your pets? Did they click with you, keep following you or just demand you tame them? I'll get some screenshots maybe, and perhaps tell you guys about my other pets too

Re: Those lil pets that stick to you like a limpet
Fast forward many levels and I was getting my first trip into Scarlet Monastery (this is pre LFD, so getting into a dungeon run was EXCITING!!) and there I saw the RED hyena for the first time! Well I knew then and there that THAT was the one, the one pet just for me! But I was a few levels to low. So after the run, I told a friend of mine about wanting to tame one of them when I'd leveled a few more times. He agree'd to take me through. so once I hit that level, me and him (he was a dwarf hunter redneck, interesting fellow). I started taming one, and he thought it was attacking me and killed it, lol...chidded him out for that one and marked my next one. This time he left me to it, and Nanaki was mine!!!
Nanaki and I have been solid partners ever since, at least up until they redesigned SM, and turned every hyena there into a slobberchops ugly ass mutt...that was a trying ordeal for me. I sat in Tanaris waiting for many many hours for Slaverjaw to spawn (a red hyena) and tamed him to replace what Nanaki had become...But he wasn't "My" Nanaki...and I was devastated. But, I tried, I kept him out as my active pet through everything and tried to forget about the tame itself and see it as my old friend but it wasn't clicking...Then one day in Heroic SFK (back when heroics were tough!), the tank lagged out just as we pulled the boss (the one with the potions in the round room). I turned growl on, and Nanaki went to town! He held that boss, his yips and growls kept him off everyone else and we managed to get the boss down. Then Nanaki came trotting back to me, sat down and scratched his chin, stood and smiled at the bosses corpse. My Nanaki was back!
We remain best buddies and Partners to this day.

First up, is Cambria, one of Shuurai's first pets. I ended up releasing her later on for more room, and ended up regretting it big time. When the stables were increased the first time for Cataclysm, I promptly went out and got this lovely lady back, and she's been by Shuurai's side ever since.
Next up is Rosalina, Shuurai's silithid colossus. For a short while, Shuurai has a different number of silithids tamed, and back then, I wasn't a fan of the colossi, until I tamed Rosalina and found myself growing rather fond of her. I eventually released all of Shuurai's other silithids, while Rosalina stayed. While I now use Frika, Rosalina's daughter, over her, I still have Rosalina in my stables, where she'll stay. Out of all of Shuurai's pets, this rosy colossus has the deepest storyline, most of it completely unintentional, but since I have that posted over in the silithid appreciation thread, it would be rather redundant if I reposted it here.
Sasavi was originally tamed during Wrath as a cursed offspring of Har'koa, and she rapidly became one of my favorite pets whenever I'd play as Shuurai. Come Mists of Pandaria; however, Sasavi ended up jumping to the black pandarian tiger skin, where she stayed for the duration of leveling to 90. Later; however, the skin started to not feel right to me, so she ended up jumping to the brown pandarian tiger skin (Chasheen, if you want me to be specific), and I instantly reclicked with her. This cat is one of the pets present in my sig, and one of my absolute favorites.
When basilisks were finally made tamable at the beginning of MoP, I was beyond stoked. This was a family I'd always hoped would become tamable someday, and during the long years when these magnificent reptiles weren't tamable, I ended up bonding with one named mob: Hellgazer. Back when he had the red skin, I was intrigued by his rather bizarre placement: in a desolate part of Tanaris, at the head of a wagon filled with a few broken coffins.
Almost every time I'd pass by there, no matter which toon I was logged in to, he would be there watching over this wagon. In my mind, I began to believe that he was once owned by the driver of said wagon, who ended up disappearing, never to return. but Hellgazer, being ever vigilant, chose to remain and wait for his master, attacking any who dared come to close to his wagon. And from this backstory is where he gained his name: Vigil.
When basilisks were finally flagged as tamable, I was shocked when Hellgazer was given a makeover -- turned from red to yellow, my least favorite color ever. Still, I decided to tame him on an alt I had at one point named Ayana, and I found that, despite his makeover, he was still Hellgazer -- he was still my Vigil. sometime later, I ended up deleting Ayana, and for a while, I didn't think anything of it, until one day, when I was down in Tanaris looking for silithid hatchlings as Shuurai, I remembered Vigil, and I felt horrible. Because of what I did, he'd lost a second master and friend, so I decided to try and make it up to him, by taming him on Shuurai. He's rather surly and a bit emotional due to his rough past, but Vigil is one of my absolute favorite pets, and I will never release him ever again. Next to Rosalina, he has the most backstory and character development out of Shuurai's pets. (If there was a basilisk appreciation thread, I would've posted all of this there instead.)
The red organic quilen ended up being Shuurai's first tame for this family, and due to where he was tamed at, he ended up with the name Ruin. Along with Sasavi and Vigil, Ruin was always in Shuurai's active lineup of pets; however, after patch 5.1, due to having no room, I ended up releasing Ruin for Frost, Shuurai's chimera. I ended up regretting this choice, but had bonded with Frost, and I didn't want to let anyone else go, so I was stuck. Cue the final stable growth in 5.3, and Ruin was one of the very first pets I ran out to retame. As with Vigil and a few others, he's here to stay.
Even though Ruin was Shuurai's first quilen, her main one -- and her main pet overall -- is Lacuna. She was the last of Portent's colors I ended up taming, but she ended up bonding with me right away thanks to her quiet and reserved personality, which concealed her desire to protect her mistress. Lacuna goes practically everywhere with Shuurai, and she will be the first pet to set foot into Draenor come this winter.
Like you, Kayro, I ended up with one of the blue runed turtles from the Thundering Isle even though I'd originally never planned on taming one. I kept thinking about how beautiful they were, though, and when I did, the word 'monsoon' kept popping into my head, and I immediately knew I'd found a name. Perhaps for yours, a name associated with water would work?
Also, like Kayro, I ended up bonding with one of the random summons from the Dire Beast spell that kept appearing, but for me, is was the new black devilsaur who kept appearing for me whenever I'd do dailies on the Isle of Thunder. At this time, I was running out of room, but I ended up consigning myself to fate when I later ran out to the Isle of Giants, made my way to the middle of the island, and tamed one of these black beauties. His name? Nocturne.

EDIT__ EEEEEEE!!! Rufus and Typhoon are my lucky duo! I went to farm for the White Hawkstrider and instead of a mount, the phoenix pet dropped! so that makes 1 mount drop (but it was one i didn't need) and a lil phoenix pet on the same day, with the same duo! Mia is a lil confused that something other than her is on fire, it seems

I remember browsing Petopia for the first time (before the forums existed) and viewed a special pet named "Ghost Saber". I remember running around those ruins for about 2 hours before I was lucky enough to spawn him from a statue. I liked him alot in WSG especially when he was diseased or poisoned a little bit because he could turn near invisible on the dark green grass. Being a BM hunter he was incredibly overpowered at the time in the 20-29 BG's - probably my most favorite PVP experience in this game.

It looks like your camera angle is inside Kovok's model. o_O It can happen with certain models when you angle the camera a certain way or get too close. It's really weird.
I love both Sunwing and Manas, and I have them both on Shuurai, named Cloak and Dagger. They're my favorite dragonhawk colors along with the blue one.

Re: Those lil pets that stick to you like a limpet
Now and again, I get a hankering for a new 'awesome-looking' turtle. And over and over again, I end up dumping them. I've tried everything, from the ancient turtle, to the fire turtle, to the runed turtles, to the rare Timeless Isle dragon turtle... and I always come back to the Mudrock Spikeshell. Panzer is just... Panzer. I can't see him any other way! No matter how many times I try!
My white cobra, Suresh, was also a real treasure for me. Back when I was in my 20s, I asked a druid friend of mine to help me get one. The poor thing tried multiple times to convince me to tame one of the other cobras in the caverns, but I had my heart set on that beautiful white. And oh, I got *so* many 'That is an awesome pet!' when I took him around the cities. Sadly, I had to release him in order to make space for 'more useful pets', but as soon as I had enough stable slots to spare, I was quick to get my beloved Suresh back. And yes, I did get a proper Deviate Moccasin for him again. I tried with one of the simple-to-tame white cobras from Coilskar, and... even though they're the *exact* same model, it just didn't click right. Of course this time, I was able to solo it (and get terribly lost) myself, rather than have to rely on a partner!
Ebonlocke is a sort of odd 'special friend'. Ever since the Jorms first changed their color, he's been my worm of choice. However, he is also the pet that I will always release if I want to catch something, but don't have space in my 'carried pets' list. It's become a tradition: I see it as Ebonlocke being a very easygoing creature, understanding of the need for that space, and always being there for recapture.
Finally, there's Olm. Olm, way back when, was a real fascination for me. Every time I passed through Felwood, I was quick to greet him. However, I was forced to release him to make space. And by the time we got more room, the Shattering happened. ... and for a very long time, Olm had vanished. I was devastated. I simply couldn't do without him, and ticketed a GM to get him returned to me. It took three times, but finally I was able to get him at least back into my stable, where I proceeded to hold onto him like a leech. Finally, he was returned to the wild, and for a time I elt good about releasing him, since once more I could always go and visit him in Felwood. But once the spaces got added further, I decided that even if I didn't have a *need* for an extra bird of prey, I still wanted my beloved Olm back with me. And he's still there to this day, and probably always will be.
Re: Those lil pets that stick to you like a limpet
Ocelotl and Coatl didn't stick with me forever, but my third Barrens pet did. I wanted a red crab, and the Barrens had the highest level one (this was when you had to level your pets up yourself). It was a little more challenging than just riding over to their spawn point, though. They were called "silithid protectors" and were only spawned during a horde quest. I logged out near the quest area, and checked periodically for horde doing the quest. When I saw two questing in the area (one low level, one my level), I waited until they were doing the quest, then ran over and tried to tame the quest summoned mob. They attack the person doing the quest, so the horde killed them. So I tamed (and abandoned) some nearby animals and named them things like "youdoquest" "letmetameplz". Once they figured out what I was trying to do, they got less anxious of me being there and helped me get the crab. I leveled CptnD up, and kept him the rest of the time through Vanilla and through BC. When LK came out, tamed "silithid protectors" glitched out, but there was an identical crab near the horde starting area in Howling Fjords. I didn't need horde's help to tame him that time. When cataclysm came out, I swapped CptnD to the new model.
Whenever I get frustrated with getting ganked, I remember taming Captain D and that horde can be helpful even when there's incentive for them to be hostile (cooperation feels more like a win, even, when there's the possibility of hostility, like you've beat the Prisoners' Dilemma).

So he and I marched into Sunwell and went looking around. He died a couple times holding the belf mobs off me so I could get my dragonhawk. Once I tamed it, I promptly named it for his warrior, Aura, and I've also gotten the blue dragonhawk companion pet and named that one Baby Aura. He was surprised I named the pet after him, and happy I did. I've kept that dragonhawk with my ex-nelf now panda hunter ever since then, and it's one of the pets that will stay in her stable always as a reminder of that crazy afternoon we spent taming it.

Story.1 Ellie. A worgen huntress named Biscit had just gotten to a place known as Duskwood after hearing many stories about a wolf named Lupos, she went to tame him...... but never found him and not wanting to leave without Lupos she left town looking for a pet that would just stay until she found him. She found a Pretty Black Ravager who was happy to help but after looking for about a week and after finding him Biscit learned that the worg she found she had grown Quite attached to so letting a different hunter tame Lupos Biscit kept the Black Ravager and named her Ellie And since then Ellie and Biscit became Good friends.
Story two will be up tomorrow!(I will do a better story tomorrow for both of these hunters)

I ended up taming the guy on a whim, figuring I'd abandon him right after, but he stuck with me. Nowadays he is my go-to pet, even for raids. I give my other pets time out of the stable but I'd say Sunhide is out 50% of the time or more.
