So I did quite a few 'rare flybys' on the PTR just to pass the time before the patch went to Live - it was always a little too crazy to camp for me, so I'd roam through Outland, Northrend and Cata zones occasionally flooding guild chat with 'Rare seen: <name> (target)'. Normally I made an effort to rehome them and just let them wander around or left them to do whatever in peace, but occasionally I couldn't be bothered. I stumbled upon Skoll one morning and watched him pat around by the disc, wondering what I was going to do with him - I'm not sure why, but I wound up taming him and found he looked nice enough next to Veeka, who had been re-Draeneified to play with the rest of the PTRtopians.
He sort of stayed 'Spirit Beast' for days and I felt guilty every time I used him because of such. It wasn't that I wasn't bonding, because I was - he was quickly my favorite Spirit Beast - he just didn't have a name.
And then I went duuuuh. Let's ask Ryan.
He didn't have much to say, busy playing Street Fighter. WELL FINE. HADOUKEN IT IS. It stuck, and the longer I thought about it the more it suited him. I stabled Spider(Karoma) and spent majority of my time on the PTR alternating between Hal the scorpid and the suddenly-charming lightning wolf I originally had every intention of killing. But this was PTR...
Eventually I lost interest after the guild split. I had had my fair taste of the new content and was ready to wait for Live, but I never actually forgot about Hadouken. He just seemed to have forgotten about me - I refused to sit out there and wait for him, but I checked every morning and every night before I logged. I saw people camping the Time-Lost, people hovering over the disc, a sudden giant influx of people leveling lowbies - it was kind of weird, after seeing Storm Peaks empty for so long.
Long story short, I finally found him today before I decided to turn in for a nap. I'm glad I waited on the CD. :)
And because you can't have one without the other...
