I start camping at 3:30pm. Ban'thalos appears at 6pm. NPC scan goes off and I am so excited that I start vibrating uncontrollably at my laptop. and yes, I am the first to get to him! I get him onto the ground with me alive successfully, but before I can pop my deterence he has already started casting harsh moonfire. Not knowing how strong he actualy IS, he finishes me off within 5 seconds of 30k DPS. Crushed, I res as fast as I can to see a Blood Elf happily gain a new pet. I talked to her about the whole scenario. she was really sweet and wished me the best of luck with my search.
So now it was down to me and one other orc hunter. We keep talking about the events of yesterday when he eventualy goes offline to take a break. So far I had been camping since 10am when I woke up. at 8pm I was about to log off for the day because we were going out to a 21st birthday.
So finally, as I am about to log for the day at about 8:10, the family is getting in the car and I literaly head for the logout button, GUESS WHO DECIDES TO SET OFF MY NPCSCAN. Heart starts pounding again, and a second seizue begins. (I should really do something about that, Im only 17.) So the scenario so far: Ban'thalos has just appeared, I'm freaking out, and my family is yelling at me to get into the car so we can go.
PLEADING WTH MY DAD to let me stay on just for a few more seconds (which turned into minutes) I attack Ban'thalos and get to the ground to get it all over with. I pop deterence a pinch too late. it fails and he kills me. he DID however get into my ice trap before i died. So I res, run back and he breaks free of the ice trap while evading and heads back up. a paladin comes along and tries to kill him. I'm glad that Ban'thalos took care of him so quickly, he deserved it. My family is getting very impatient with me now, I'm freaking out as to how im going to get this darn Owl, and I refused to log off until I had him.
A ray of hope calmed me down slightly as I realised I was the ONLY BM hunter at the time, and everyone around me was actualy trying to help me tame him, Particularily a warrior who invited me and brought him down for me. he kited him into my ice trap, which he actualy broke free from due to a DoT, and I just threw in all my luck and started the tame. I got him just before he used another harsh moonfire, and the biggest wave of relief flew over me as Ban'thalos finaly became my new pet. I was under so much pressure to log off that I couldn't even see him shrink to pet size, Or thank that amazing warrior for being so helpful. I sent him a letter this morning and my new Owl is happily by my side with his new name, Oatmeal.
