Rare Pet Diary - Last Video Update: 11/14/2011

Since my method of checking rare spawns has yielded incredible results, I've recently decided to make a video diary of any sightings I make of any rare pet I spot. These videos will include any and all drama associated with the tames and/or sightings of any rare pet I encounter.

In addition, since I've found this "casual-camping" method to be very, VERY fun, I've also decided that I will use it as a means to further serve the Hunter community. In other words, if I find a rare spawn with a unique skin, (a skin which isn't shared by any other non-rare tamable mob), I will do everything in my power and spend up to 30 minutes to find the unclaimed pet a new home. This means I'll whisper any and every Hunter I can find in an attempt to find a master for it, so if you're Alliance on my server (Llane), keep an eye out for any of my toons (Wesleytiger, Wespuma, and Wespumy being my Hunters) advertising in General and Trade chat. As for the Horde, don't worry. I haven't forgotten about you all. I will create a lowbie Horde toon and have it sit in Orgrimmar so that I may advertise in Trade Chat should a rare pop up. I will do my best to give everyone equal oppurtunity.

I will post the name of the Horde toon I make in my next video diary when I un-lazy myself and make one. ^^; I may add commentary in the future if I can get a better mike...

If you're on Llane (US), feel free to join RPD's (Rare Pet Diary's) channel so you can stay up to date on any live rare encounters (including times which they appeared, even if I or someone else tames them). THIS WILL BE MY PRIMARY MEANS TO FIND ANY RARE PETS A NEW HOME! My friends list has been getting too clogged, and it's annoying to have to whisper a million other Hunters. It's easier to just type it once for everybody to see. Type "/join RarePetDiary" to join the channel. You'll never have to rejoin the channel again unless you right click and leave it yourself. This means that even if you relog, you don't have to /join RarePetDiary again.

When found, rare pets will be offered to Hunters in the following order:
1. Guildies get first dibs. I may scratch this later since the players in my guild have yet to jump on one of my rare pet announcements. (strangely, no one seems interested)
2. Anyone in the RPD channel.
3. Friends list.
4. If I don't get any hits by now, I'll start advertising in General and Trade Chat.

New Rare Pet Diary added!

Diary #4 - Oct 30, 2011

In this installment of Rare Pet Diary:
1. A Skarr encounter completes my set of three (one on each of my Hunters).
2. A second consecutive day Gondria encounter also completes my set of three across my three Hunters.
3. Jadefang makes me burn 40 minutes trying to figure out how to reach him.
4. ...............Ban'thalos.............. Need I say more?
5. Deth'tilac watches "someone" (*shifty eyes*) jump off a cliff before joining a Hunter's stables.
6. Solix rewards my efforts in finding Deth'tilac a new home.
EXTRA: New record! SIX rares sighted in a 3 hour period! (Previous record was five.)

Oh gods, yes. A shaman on my server did that. He said it was "just to see if he could". Not even because he thought there was epic loot involved, not because of a possible achievement, just because. That really pissed me off. BADLY. I put the guy on ignore and so did everyone in my channel and the alliance people that I was helping at the time. I logged over to talk to them and explained what was up and they were just as angry as we were. He's hated on both sides. At times like that, I wish my server were a pvp server. I'd have logged to my ally toon and killed him or rooted him while he was trying to kill Deth solo.

The 7th episode of Rare Pet Diary will be delayed a bit, as I'm making it a partial tribute video to its 1 week mark (and I want to make it feel epic). It may be up to 2 days before I can get it up, but I EXPECT it to be up late tomorrow should everything stay on track with my plans.

I WILL still post the Rare Pet Diary video of any rares I encounter today in the coming days, just as I have with past episodes, so don't worry! You won't miss anything. This is just a small delay for the 1-week special that will be #8.

I really appriciate everyone's support here! You guys/gals make my Rare Pet Diary project all the more exciting and enjoyable! Everyday when I log on WoW, I look forward to each and every one my rare spawn fly-bys, wondering what sort of drama will come next... Will there be a lot of jumping fails like with Skitterflame? How long will it take for myself or another Hunter to remember that we can't tame this super-awesome rare without first dismissing our current pet? How many more times will I encounter that darn Ban'thalos? The emotions we go through are enough in itself, but you guys all multiply that feeling ten fold, because I know that all of you will fully enjoy and love watching whatever fails and accomplishments we make in our attempts to get that one new rare pet!

So to the whole of the Petopia community, thank you! I look forward to further satisfying your wishes with more videos and epic tames (or fails ^^;)!

Sorry for the lack of updates in this thread. I've fallen behind ever since I started working on the 7th episode special. I should be able to catch up completely by tomorrow. Meanwhile...

Video diaries 9, 10, and 11 are up! Video diary 8 is having copywrite issues with the audio, muted as a result. For this reason, I will not include a link to this episode yet until I switch out the audio and reupload. Thanks for your patience.

In Rare Pet Diary #9:
1. Loque'nahak answers Becca's dreams as soon as I log in...
2. Aotona seeks an ally in one Hunter, but the internet denies him of such an honor, resorting to finding a new home in Becca.
3. When one Hunter sees both Wespuma and Wespumy staring at Skarr, he believes he's too late to lay claim to him. Little does he know...
4. Kirix learns how to evade tames...

Diary #10 - Nov 5, 2011

In Rare Pet Diary #10:
1. King Krush becomes the newest Devilsaur to one Hunter's collection.
2. Anthriss's new master takes a while to realize that the spider is her's after dying as she finished the tame.
3. Ghostcrawler plays peak-a-boo.
4. I try my hand at solo-taming Skitterflame.

Diary #11 - Nov 6, 2011

In Rare Pet Diary #11:
1. We waste time on trying to get buffed for the Karkin tame. LoS hates us, and so does gravity. After wasting minutes of our lives, we resort to the more "traditional" method.
2. Loque'nahak says hi again.
3. Solix gets claimed by yours truely.
4. I fail to resist Kirix's call once again.
5. A random Skoll encounter leads to the second spirit beast tame for the Hunter who tamed Loque'nahak earlier.



I will update this thread once I catch up with the remaining diaries (and fix #8, of course).

In this VERY frustrating episode of Rare Pet Diary:
1. Skitterflame catches the attention of a fellow guildie.
2. Karoma faces a fate he did not deserve...
3. Ankha makes his first appearence in RPD, quickly becoming the first rare in one Hunter's stables.
4. Solix says hi when Skarr interrupts. Skarr himself is doomed to the same fate as Karoma...
5. Solix bribes one Hunter by way of a nasty repair bill...

Still having issues with a couple of videos, including diaries 8 and 11. I will likely have to resort to reusing some music from the other RPD videos. I will fix these tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.
