Random pet family appreciation thread is where I roll a random pet family every week for everyone to share their pictures, their stories, their love for that pet family. Please no hate or rants. This is an appreciation thread. If you dislike the family, don't post! Hopefully with some love we can get some hunters to try out new pets they never would have thought to tame before.
Our 25th family is the snippety crab family!

CRAB BATTLE!
Crab facts
~Crabs have been tameable since Vanilla WoW.
~Crabs have two models and eleven tameable stable skin colors, with three more skin colors on a color changer only.
~Two rare members of the crab family are Crusty and Karkin (also unique skinned).
~Crabskintruesilver is a currently untameable gem crab skin.
~Deep sea crab models can be interchanged with either blue or purple markings. Enormous Sand Crabs are the only stable color marked crab being green with blue markings. Pyreshell Scuttlers are color changers with green with blue, black with blue, black with purple and blue with purple markings. Untameable deep sea crabs with markings are blue with blue, green with purple, orange with blue, orange with purple, red with blue, and red with purple.
~Crabs have two tameable color changers. Another color changing crab is currently untameable.
~Back in Wrath, crabs were tamed by 2.6% of level 80 hunters. Placing them at number eight on the list. (Source)
~Back in Wrath, crabskinsapphire was the most tamed skin at 51.1%. Crabskinbronze was the least tamed skin at 5.1%. (Source)
~Crabs special ability Pin used to also cause damage.
~Strand Crawler is a crab minpet that will occasionally blow bubbles!
~Jewelcrafters can summon crabs from Figurine - Black Diamond Crab, Figurine - Dawnstone Crab and Figurine - Truesilver Crab.
~The old world crabs used to have spines on the top of their carapace and on the bottom of their legs, as seen in these two screenshots. These spines where removed mid Burning Crusade as Blizzard did not like the look of spines on the jewelcrafting trinket crabs, which sadly also affected tameable crabs at the time. This also caused crabs to have a triangular mouth and a thicker smaller claw due to alpha transparency issues and this still hasn't been fixed.
~Karkin is the only gem crab tameable in game. He was one of the 4.2 challenge tames, where hunters need to silence his Fieroclast Barrage attack. Karkin got his name from Karkinos, a crab in the Twelve Labors of Hercules who was kicked into the sky and became the constellation Cancer.
~Kili'ua has the title "Two Huge Pincers" and she certainly lives up to that title. She is the largest wild crab in game.
~Silithid Protector used to emote "Silithid Protector digs its way out of the sand to protect its eggs" when it was summoned. This was removed quickly after it was discovered.
~Silt Crawlers used to be able to be tamed with a bottle in their claw. This buff is not permanent, so the bottle would disappear after death, but it is a very unique looking appearance buff.
