I don't really like these guys. They look like worgs, sorta, but it's like an Uncanny Valley effect where they're awfully weird looking worgs. And so many questions left unanswered! Why bind a canine tail? Something about their legs and posture strikes me as distinctly equine, but if you shifted the positioning they could look like lions as well. The art is excellent, I love the texture and the attention to detail(on the horses as well!) but the anatomy is off just enough to really bother me.

Image

As far as I can tell it's primarily the fault of the leg positioning, although the nose comes to a really awkward upward point but I can chalk that up to artistic liberties, really. I can do the same with the tail wrapping as much as it bothers me because, hey, it's a mount, it needs to look cool. The dip in the back really bothers me as well.

Fix the legs/back and I'll imagine it'll look just fine, but I won't be getting one either way. QQ I don't PvP. :(

I LOVE the model myself, but the legs are weird, you're right. They're broken, actually. Dog legs don't bend that way. Ever. (Front legs)
Bird legs do...

Still, if this is ever made a pet, I WILL tame it. In an instant. Armor or not.

Q&D idea of what a non-armored one might look like, at least the basics:

Hmmm Looking at the armored version, I think if they did make an unarmored one, it would have more of a hunch to it then that. It's got those really high shoulderblades, with the sloping back.

You guys are right about the anatomy being off. I just wanted to point out that a LOT of WoW has messed up anatomy (as far as their animals). XD Especially wolves. All wolves in this game have "messed up" front legs. Look at them all very closely, you will notice they all do the "reverse bird leg" bend.

So it's not something new, it's just how Warcraft does Wolves.

They all have the bent leg.

Though back on topic, I really do wanna call these guys Dire Wolves. IDK but it just seems to fit.

AND OMG AT THOSE IMAGES OF UNARMORED ONES. WAAAAAAAAANT.

Nice mockup! Let's hope they make them into tameables.

Yes plzz they are awesome! As I don't PvP at all, I never have the chance of using the mount, but I want the pet! :headbang:

does that matter for Rated BG's StgMakkie?

I dont do much in the way of pvp, so I am not really familiar with what the different pvp things are called.
so, random BG, rated BG's, arena, world pvp...dont really know how points are given where for what.

its some very nice detail to both the horde and alliance mounts but that beeing said...i dont like em. The wolfs back looks broken and it reminds me of boars and bears more than a wolf. the armor is a bit to much for my taste as well as i dont favor flags stuck to it. the same goes for the alliance horse

I LOVE those worgen models. They realy should update the old worg/worgmount models to look abit like that. The old one is rly messed up and out of date. >.>

Then again, there is much in wow who could do a tiny polish or 2. =P

Yeah, like all the classic races are in bad need of a face lift/update.

Seriously, if my NE stands next to a Worgen, the level of detail difference is astounding :(

I agree that they could go back and rework some odd models to give em greater detail like the new models. however i do not want the model itself to change.
I would love my old style wolfs to be smoother looking, but if they too started to get broken backs id be very sad.
But fully suport the idea of updating textures of old creatures to match the new ones. vanilla characters just cant compete next to the new ones.

REALLY hoping they implement these models (preferably unarmored, since that big banner on the back looks like it would cause some problems) somewhere as tamable pets. They're so fluffy looking I just wanna reach out and pet 'em. :D Plus, with pets out while mounted coming back, it'd look so awesome to seem them running beside the mount version...or running beside a worgen in running wild!

I'd never want to see the old-world worgs changed, aside from possibly a graphical upgrade--but I adore the model itself.

Anyway, an update to the thread:
