Often when a new xpac comes out, I like to try a new race / class combo, so I reserved the name Veneratus back in wotlk and rolled him as a ret pally when cata was released. Somehow though ret didn't grab my fancy for him, so I switched to holy spec, and everything just kind of clicked - playing as resto was something I hadn't done a ton of so it was interesting to try a new play style, and the new spec also seemed to fit his name much better.

I played around with a few different looks and finally settled on one that was blue with a somewhat tribal twist (partly inspired by his mount's color scheme); below are his current set (left) and his earlier one (right). The current one was cobbled together from one of the new cata chain looks, and I like it a little better, but the earlier one ofc has the advantage of being obtainable sooner (lvl 20 vs lvl 34), and ofc soon Veneratus will be switching to platemail, so I'll have to figure out a whole new look...

Thanks! I had a lot of trouble finding a helm that fit this theme; at first I tried the Corroded Helmet, but it seemed to move him further away from the tribal theme than I wanted to go.

Next I looked into feathered models - that means either a gryphon mail variant in raven colors (but the only one available at lvl 39- is this which doesn't really have the right colors, or else something like this... that would work pretty well except it's leather / cloth only.

So in the end, I just left his helm display off and went with the bareheaded look!

EDIT: Actually you're right, there are a couple nice matches.

Having said that, you got me thinking pop... having one piece of leather at that level on a holy pally doesn't really hurt anything.

There are two leather helms that would look pretty sweet with this theme:

Trickster's Headdress (lvl 37 AH green)

Whisperwind Headdress (lvl 30 drop from a rare boss)

I'll post a new pic if I'm able to score one.

With the speed of leveling these days, though, he'll be level 40 very, very soon.

I know... never thought I'd be sad to get an armor upgrade!

On my current alt project, I intentionally did not plan a pre-shift transmog at all -- rather, I collected pieces for after the armor shift. In this case, mail pieces, since she's a shaman.

The hard thing about the shift to plate is that no low-level plate exists, so there's a lot less in the way of things to buy for looks.

Well, I've been playing the game a looong time, and I'm always on the lookout for different things to try that will make each new toon interesting to play - so for me, the 'mogging was a huge incentive to play this guy.

Also aside from the shoulders*, everything in these sets came from quests.

and I think one of the paladin pvp sets looks like an eagle, and paladin tier 13 pve has wings!

The Vanguard Headdress would be a good match with the shoulders - the only problem is that it's not platemail, and by the time Veneratus is high enough to wear that, he will have plate specialization; currently at lvl 39 if he wants to mix in leather or cloth, the only penalty is to his armor points which isn't a big deal (in moderation), but once he makes lvl 50 that's going to cost him his stat bonus.

Although I may still get it just for the screenshot - stats or no stats it would look good on him.

The PVP and radiant glory sets look awesome - definitely something to try for when he makes 85!

I finally got lucky and scored a Trickster's Headdress off the AH for relatively cheap.

I really like the way the current set looks. The chest and legs seem very unique and look great with the rest of your stuff.
