Mounts to be made account wide.

Hmm. Guess we'll have to wait and see for profession, tcg, and class mounts. But a fel steed for a shadow priest would be interesting...

Class Mounts will probably only remain with the classes....so no, don't count on your priests getting a fel steed.

Yea theres always gonna be a few that get excluded such as warlock and paladin mounts.

Im not really sure my view on the TCG mounts.. i dont know if blizz will make them account bound or leave them as is. Thats a pretty touchy one since it deals with real money. Blizz shop mounts already are account bound but you can buy them no matter what day of the year for the same flat price. TCG is a limited edition thing.

My personal opinion on this is I actually love the idea because I absolutely HATE camping/faction grinding for mounts and refuse to do it on any other toon other than my main, and even then I am having a very hard time getting my ass to do faction grinds. By the time I finally get them I am just annoyed from it all.

I seriously hope they do add restrictions though. Personally, I think TCG, Achievement and Class Mounts (Pally/Warlock) should NOT transfer or be available to all your toons. Camping and Faction mounts are one thing, but achievement mounts, I think you should still have to work for those because then what is the point of achievements if you don't have to do them anymore? Same goes for the titles.

Now for the companion pets, I like them being available to all your toons, even the TCG ones. Maybe not the achievement ones once again because what would be the point in achievements?

I think it's fairly obvious that things like class mounts won't be available on all characters. There will probably be a mount panel in your spellbook similar to what we have now, with class/faction/profession restricted mounts greyed out on characters that can't use them.

As for whether this is a good idea, I think it definitely is. It's obvious that most players don't like grinding, especially when it's a grind you've already done on another character.

Definitely, that and they could just make them an ability, such as "Running Wild" is, as it is not in the mounts tab, nor count as one. If you played a lock or pally, they would just be in a different tab, therefore a non issue for account bound mounts.

The only mounts I could see being some what an issue for players would be if someone had obtained a 2 of the same TCG mounts for 2 different toons on the same account. The easiest way I can see to help alleviate this some would be something like a roll back all TCG mounts that toons have learnt, back into their personal mailbox or something. That way they then have the option to at least put it on the AH or sell their double up and not completely loose out.

Anyway, no doubt their will be a perfectly fair and reasonable outcome for all these questions, in time.

Account wide mounts is one of the things I'm looking forward to the most. Who wants to camp for Aeonaxx or TLPD on multiple characters? They'll be new mounts to farm anyway. The world bosses will each drop a mount. If they're even half as sick as the dragon aspect mount I'll be farming every single one. And I'll get to use the white hawkstrider that I got on my pally tank, a toon I never play anymore. This is an awesome change!!

There's still a lot of people here making their opinions sound like facts, but hey, that's every forum for you and I'll just ignore it.

I thought about this over-night and yes, I can see the good sides to this. I can see good and bad sides and it's slowly growing on me. Hopefully by MoP I'll completely like the idea. I wouldn't want to leave the game over something as trivial as this. I am, like everyone else, also wondering how certain mounts will work. I wonder if they'll remove the profession requirements on mounts now, I would love to see that, I hate the idea of having a profession I don't like just to get mounts. (I'm a grind-profession person, don't have the patience to level crafting profs, hehe.) And I also wonder how it would work for cross faction characters. I'll assume it's the same as when you faction transfer, since there's always a faction equivalent of every mount. I'll also assume they take at the start whichever character has the most mounts and apply it to all current and future characters. Also class-specific mounts won't be counted I guess, they'll just go to the right classes and that's all. (Still waiting to see if they ever add in mounts for other classes!)

Otherwise I must apologise for my blunt and very negative response in the first post. I was not having a good evening at all.

I'd love to see this coming! Remember that you found the mounts as a person, it was you. The character you used is secondary imo.
Just lock the mounts until you reach the right level for them: Raven Lord unlocks at 70, TLPD at 80, Vitreous Stone Drake at 85, and so on...
Lock permanently class mounts for other classes, and faction mounts untill the alt reaches Exalted. Problem solved.

My personal opinion about this:

If Blizzard decides to do mounts account-bound, then they'll do it, I'm not going to join any fight on forums and such.
I've been very lucky with rare mount drops, and the most I camped was 6 days, usually 5. I love Storm Peaks, and I've been thinking of getting time-lost for my hordie druid, because I love the mount so, so much. But I also read stories about people having a very bad camping experience, on this forum, on Ponderance's forum, from people I know... Whilst camping is fun and you forget your camping hell when npcscan goes off and you get your mount finally, some people will either never do it again, or do it again on alts, and by now probably have done a second camp at least. It's not wasted time, because you chose to spend your time that way. There's always a story behind your rare mount (or pet) that you camped. People that really wanted them, will use them regardless, and I don't mind seeing more time-losts or phosphorescent stone drakes, I see it as more people having a story to tell.

Ultimately, all these rare drops are still rare and hard to get, but you can farm them more because now you can use all your alts to run that heroic for Anzu, etc.

There will be a lot of new mounts in MoP. People will want most likely those first, and when the expansion has been out for a while and we get bored, and there's new mount achievements, we'll go back to those older ones. I mean, there's so much choice.... there won't be 50 Ashes of A'lar all together, and if people love to use them, they'll use them. Mount diversity is great.

While I can see Chaoyll's point, ultimately, we can't do much about this happening, and we have to make the best out of it. This is not the same, but I absolutely don't mind camping for others if I have the time. Everyday, I'm still rehoming pets, and this won't change in MoP, and I'll be forever roaming the lands for rares, it's my passion in wow.

Argh, I think I never got to the point. But, I think, there will be so much new stuff, that one's busy for a while anyway. Lots to camp, lots to find, before we get bored and go back to old places.

I cant wait for this. Jeli is my collector. I try and get everything on her. But she cant for the life of her get the headless horsemans mount >_< My DK has gotten it 3 times....My Shaman...5! Noone else. Drives me insane. It will be nice for all my hard work on Jeli to be able to be showcased on no matter what character I am on. No having to switch around if a friend shows up and wants to see.

Haven't updated my sideboard recently but I was probably up another 20 or so attempts before I gave up. At first I thought I was just unlucky, but then I did some research and found (according to what I'd read in the comments at wowhead anyway) that you'd have to get up to something like 250 attempts to even hit the "average" farm time for Anzu...

If this goes as planned, I'll probably level up one of my tanks to cap level so I can maybe get it through heroes call or w/e it's called; even if it doesn't drop for me there, at least there's likely to be a decent "consolation prize" to be had.

I'm the kind of person who hates doing the same thing again and again. That's not fun to me. I get antsy when shows or movies have a ''let's go in the past to fix the future''. I zone out so easily. There's a reason I only have 4 85's. I hate repeating myself and my actions. It drives me nuts. I cannot wait for all my mounts to be account wide. It'll be one less thing for me to get antsy over. Thank God.

I LOVE this idea. I'm one of those people that really only work on one character, my hunter, and the others usually gather dust because I want all of my mounts, pets and achievments on my one character. If I can share it with my alts, I can play them without feeling like I'm missing something on my hunter.

This also means my blood elf paladin can have the red dragonhawk, my goblin can have the mechano hog, my draenei can have talbuks, etc etc. There are many mounts that I've wanted on my alts for RP that I just don't have the heart to get a second time.

Me? I LOVE this idea. I dont really care so much if "such and such" mount is "rare" or not. No matter what someone, somewhere has it, what matters is that you enjoy the thrill of having it.

My main is an avid mount collector but my alt has some sick mounts to.. When I got TLPD on my alt first before my main I refused to use it until I got my TLPD on my main lol. Sas has been in kara way way over 100 times, no mount.. Saons 20th kill.. she gets the mount. Sas has been in EOE sooo many many times its not funny, first time in EOE and Saon gets the azure drake...

Just think of it this way, you know those dailies you had to grind on every single one of your alts for the mounts, that took forever and you hated it so much? Well now you only have to do it on one, and if there are multiple mounts like in DMF you can have your alts do different mounts. Those rep grinds that suck but you had to do to get your 100 mounts on your alts? well its all good now! Those evil holiday bosses that drop stuff only for your alts alt? Well its a ok! How about those tcg mounts only your main can afford but youd love on your alt, well no problem!
You have one mount you want so badly but never seems to drop for your main? Its OK! Go on your alts and hope one gets it.

The thrill of getting it is awesome, even though I got TLPD on Saon first, the thrill I got when he spawned on me after.. 7 months of looking for him and 100 vyras was something ill always cherish. But I like sanity to!

Probably the most convincing argument on the thread yet to be honest.

Once I'm done rep grinding for mounts like talbuks, netherdrakes, west wind drake, etc. on my main, I never probably would have gone back to it on an alt anyway. I too am someone who prefers the idea of collecting mounts on one character mostly so I can see why this might be quite good. But I like the idea of being able to catch rare spawn mounts more than once. Perhaps I'll help others camp it instead. Yeah. I'll do that.

Or you would never have that fear of flying over Uldum on a alt randomly and coming across the real Mysterious camel figurine. I just know when I find it it'll probably be on my druid who does nothing but farm herbs these days where my main has found somewhere between 12-14 duds.

I like achievements being account wide too. After fishing my way to the Salty title, I don't think thats something I'll ever try to duplicate on another toon. Maybe there would be a way to distinguish your "overall points" and your "character specific points"

So it would say Royi, 7210 points (5610) and the 5610 would be pertaining to just on that character. Maybe that would appease the account-wide haters

Another thing with mounts, I wonder how many people used something like the Spectral Tiger on a toon back in 2007 that they honestly haven't played anymore since they dislike the class now or the character or the faction even. Or I wonder how many people feel like they "have" to play the character they gave the Spectral Tiger to because otherwise they feel like they wasted that card if they dont...

I do like the thought of farming something would unlock it for all characters. You can do that in many different games like in xbox or ps3. Achievements or trophies are always account wide on those platforms, why should this be different?

I think for those against account wide its because they feel the characters have to earn the titles,mounts, and achievements each, whereas what I believe its should be (hopefully will be) that just the actual subscriber themselves should have to earn the title, or the mount once.

It would be rediculous for xbox to say "oh you're starting a new game in Mass Effect, we're going to take away all gamer points you have achieved with that game since its not on this save..."

I'm excited for this! I have all my mounts on my main my other characters need some mounts

Plus it saves me the trouble of farming rare mounts on multiple characters if one gets lucky then everyone gets it now and I'm all for that
