Hunter Aura/Pet Crit Overlap

Basically..

With the implementation of a few new species of pets, I've noticed something. All hunters bring Trueshot Aura - 5% crit, 10% AP, within 100 yards of the hunter.

We have at least five pet classes now, that bring 5% crit themselves. Wolves, devilsaurs, hydras - and now quilin and water striders. This buff does not stack with the hunter's aura ... rendering the pet special ability completely useless.

Is it intentional that these abilities don't stack? If it is, what is the point of these pet abilities? A pet is likely to despawn if it's more than 100 yards away from the Hunter, so it isn't to make sure everyone gets their bonus crit..

If it isn't intentional these aren't stacking, 10% free crit just because a hunter and a pet is around, is a bit much.

But this does bring up a good point regarding pet selection. Stacking the buffs would not be the worse thing.

I would actually accept a nerf of Trueshot Aura to make up for it. Which might get me murdered by my fellow hunters, but I want the pet buffs to be relevant. If it means losing the baked in 5% crit off TSA and onto a pet.. I'm good with that.

10% crit straight up, just from a pet and a hunter, would make it almost obligatory to bring the hunter /and/ a crit pet, which is where the dangerous comes in. 10% crit is nothing to sneeze at.

We went an entire expansion with very few specs giving crit. It's a pretty decent buff, and makes hunters (at least one of us), useful to have in a raid.

This, or allow them to stack.

I'd be okay with changing the pet skill, but that means coming up with five more unique buffs/debuffs for pets to bring - and we already bring basically everything that exists ingame, on one pet or another.

Every single spec COULD bring crit, last xpac. Wolves are available to everyone. Whether they did or not, for various reasons, is not the issue. They COULD.

Is trueshot still MM only or does it become available to all hunters? I can see why pets would have it if only one spec has the aura. I really don't remember if they've changed the aura or not.

Everyone now gets TSA. TSA now also comes with 5% crit baked in.

Actually, I'd even be fine making TSA only affect the hunter with the crit portion (still give the AP to party), but have the pets affect the party with crit.

Ahhh...ok yeah, I think those abilities of the pets need to change to something else then. Wolves, Devilsaurs, Hydras (and now the Quilin I think) bring it, so they need to be changed to something else...

SOMETHING needs to be tweaked. I honestly don't care what, so long as it isn't 'remove TSA in all forms entirely'. The post here - and on the beta forums, is primarily to bring it to the attention of a dev that this is happening, so at some point during the beta something can get tweaked. I really, really don't want wolves to become decoration pets. Or devilsaurs just for their mortal strike, I love my nibblesaur. Decoration pets will still get used, especially soloing and 25man, but people doing 5 mans and 10man raiding will have a lot of pressure to bring a pet that actually does something. Water bugs escape with their glowy little butts, since they also bring the mage buff now.

Perhaps no one has brought it up in the beta forums yet, they don't always look at everything and consider everything at all times. Its why they have us help them test things out.

The pet abilities may just be placeholders ones for now, I wouldn't get too worked up about it just yet.

Probably not, maybe if we ranted about: PvP, Tier 75 or Stampede there would be more feedback about the topic.
