The largest games convention on Earth is happening in Cologne, Germany from August 15 to 19 this year. Blizzard Entertainment is excited to announce our presence at gamescom 2012, where visitors will have the chance to witness the world premiere of the World of Warcraft®: Mists of Pandaria™ opening cinematic. The latest creation from Blizzard’s cinematics team will be shown on giant screens at our booth on Thursday, August 16, the first fully public day of the event.
Omg. THAT'S SO FAR AWAY!

I've always said MoP was going to be released in October. I hope I'm wrong but it's not looking like it!

October is still sooner than November or December. ;) Besides, why should they compete with the Olympics?

Wish I could say I was surprised it's looking like a November release, but I'm not. I still stick with November though, just because I'm pretty sure Wrath's trailer was first revealed in August 2008 as well from what I remember (and from googling). Then in September we got the November release date.

Which sucks cause as much as I enjoyed Cataclysm, I am really bored of Dragon Soul.

But yeah. I would've been surprised if it was a summer release. But that's pretty much out the window now considering it's nearly July and we still don't even have an announcement there's a CE edition.

Yay! Though kinda surprising as they didn't hold Blizzcon and skipped E3 yet again. I would have thought they were just not doing any conventions this year.

Will be neat to see what they show.

Well, now we have a much better idea of when MoP will be coming out.
guess I still have enough time to max out my profs, and get some more toons leveled up. Free up space for all those leather scraps to sell, and hopefully get my travelers yak :D

Uggh.... yuck.

Another 4-5 months of doing DS?... I might quit this game by then, or take a serious break.

GW2 anyone?.. D3 is getting boring already.

Another 4-5 months, you could level an army of alts in that time, with the professions... sigh....

What do you guys mean another 5 months of Cataclysm?

Well, I couldn't...I have kids to watch, little kids...
I think I have my warlock (77) and my worgen druid (82), to get to lv 85. Possibly my Mage (55) if my friend gets her lock to 50+ so we can quest/dungeon together. and level up profs that arent maxed out...

Eventually I'll have to dust off my Nesingwary horde petopian characters...

That should take me atleast a year to do....

IF past patterns hold true (and they generally do with Blizz, the release of the game is about 2.5 months after the release of the cinematic. So with the announcement of the cinematic release date, that would mean the xpac will come at the end of October.

Now, the conflicting sign is that the Brewfest gear is upgraded for lvl 90, which would be silly to do if you weren't expecting lvl 90 characters by the time Brewfest came out. (They usually don't upgrade holiday gear over a year in advance, as they adjust the ilvl.

They also have begun raid testing, which generally happens two months or so before an expansion hits.

But, it would be unusual for the xpac to be released right after the cinematic.

So... a mid-Aug date for the cinematic means mid-Sept at earliest for the xpac, and possibly as late as early Nov..

An August release date might not be completely out of the question yet, perhaps at the end of August or the beginning of September. The beta seems to be going at a good pace, and it could be that they wanted to coincide the cinematic trailer with this enormous gaming convention. They can't control the date of the convention, perhaps we'll hear the release date before that con even happens.

Then while the hype over the trailer is still strong, the game will come out soon after it shows.

In any case, I really have no idea, but I'll stay optimistic. I just don't think the date of the convention necessarily regulates the date of the MoP release.

Another consideration is the GW2 release date is Aug 28. Blizz will want to create buzz before and after that.

But with the date, mid-Sept seems like the earliest possible. I'm just hoping we get a 5.0 patch a good time before the xpac drops. Want to play with the new talents.

I honestly was seeing this coming, er, the push back on release that is, when they brought the jade forest offline. I was more expecting it'd be postponed for a month tho till it became known they were overhauling things, after i found that out, i definitely felt like it'd be an october at the earliest release. But time will tell, its still a very long ways away and we dont know how much they have left to go on anything yet, so its hard to get an accurate guess ^^ Im really excited for the new trailer tho! Going to be awesomeee <3

Soooortof curious if they'll try to push for a near gw2 release date. I hate when companies do that stuff. xD

(GW2 finally announced an aug 28th release date)
