Dear lord, that's horrible.

Is there a thread on the beta forums for this?

I already have a hard enough time as it is with overpowering lighting effects in games, so this will be a huge turn off if we cant toggle it, or if it isnt dimmed down by the time it becomes live. Its way, waaaaay too much for me to handle. I remember the time i drank an invisibility pot and my screen instantly flashed white. That rendered me unable to play for a good 10+ min cause everything looked like i was staring through frosted glass. It was a rather long time ago, years ago, and my eyes have certainly not improved but rather the opposite since those days.

If anyones willing to survive the experience of dying in Winterspring during daylight... i want to see a comparison of live and beta of that.. It's definitely extremely eye-burning painful on live so im really nervous about if the lighting system will pass into death, cause that'll mean that you wont be able to see anything on the ground, the glow will be so strong.

I play with my settings at Good, just for the record, since my computer cant handle any higher.

I play on Ultra and thought the weird lighting was just a Beta thing. It's really harsh and not easy on the eyes at all. I'm really big into screenshots and haven't liked the Beta ones at all and was looking forward to some better ones when MoP goes live. I'll be really dissapointed if it makes it to live this way.

I have to say the only time I have noticed this on the Beta is the draenei character creation screen. It makes it very hard to choose a skin tone because thye all look alike with that lighting.

I can also tell you that people have been complaining about it since the beta started. I think it needs to still be brought up, at least for the character creation screens. It really doesn't bother me too much in game.

I'm sure you can turn it off. I remember it was the same on one of the older test realms. There was some command you had to use to turn it off. Something like 'ffxglow 0' or something. I don't know if it works anymore though. And well, I don't even remember if that is the correct command.
But I think it was someone on these forums that told me..

Edit: I just tested it, but I'm not running on high settings, so there's not much difference. And the command to use is '/console ffxglow 0'. (/console ffxglow 0 turns it off and /console ffxglow 1 turns it on).
Maybe someone that runs with higher settings could check it out?

I'll be waiting on the highland, with its wonderful serenity.
Where the stars glow and the brooks flow, that's my way of life.
When the mountains on the highland, and the nature is surrounding me, when the wind blows, that's all I need.

Yeah, it's almost like being in a J J Abrams movie.

I'd mentioned the lighting in a post a few months back in early beta. Someone suggested the ffxglow 0 thing, but I never did get around to trying it.

The console glow macro does have a slight effect. Notice the bottom right hand corner, you can see a bit more detail with the glow turned off. It still has the overall brightness/shininess however.

After:

And yes, Vortex Pinnacle is blinding white. ._.

EDIT: And for a real comparison, here's the same on live servers:

Yeah, still way too much light.
I'm sorry it didn't help with the console command. :(

I guess I'm lucky then that my computer is so bad that I can't run high settings, cause there's not much of that light on mine.
Maybe I should try going to the Vortex Pinnacle too, just to check with my settings.

No worries, it was worth a shot.

I just edited my last post to include a comparison screenshot of live. The difference is...stark. :|

Well, I tossed my support in, I hope they tone it down one more notch before the release. That, or Shade might need shades to play World of Glowcraft. xD But hey. At least they're playing with it. I'd rather there be trial and error instead of nothing at all. :3

It's a bit too shiny for me. But with my settings I guess I can live with it.
I hope they will give us an option to turn it off though. (If they even plan on keeping it like this).

That's actually how Vortex looks for me on live.

Dear lord. I must never step foot in there again after Mists.
