I thought I'd try a few cranes, since they're easy and fun. Since the ones they created are in such a range of colours it means pretty much anything goes. Of course it also means it's harder not to overlap with what Blizzard already created, but not too much.
Firstly, as a reference, the full range of real Blizzard ones can be seen here: http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic ... 9&start=10
A pretty aqua:
A richer blue than the in-game one:
Wine red with magenta crown. It's has obvious similarities to the official brown one, but is a bit richer:
Light mauve. It looks quite fluffy:
In contrast, this olive one looks like a murky swamp bird, but still pretty:
Burnt orange. Rather tropical:
Rich, dark purple and then a fluffier, lighter purple:
Crimson red. I like how this one turned out, with the contrasting blue markings.
Finally an interesting two-tone blue-and-red that came out kind of puce. This effect was a chance thing when combining colour channels from skins that had brighter colouring in very slightly different parts of the skin. I'm going to experiment with it more and see if I can get some nicer mixes:
One thing while experimenting with these guys that I hadn't noticed originally is that there's a seriously obvious join on the neck of many of them, mostly the darker ones. This occurs on the official / in-game ones too. It seems to be the result of the model using the just a little too far and reaching a dark border. If they clipped it just a few pixels shorter I suspect they could avoid it. Maybe they'll fix it.
