Guild Wars 2 is an upcoming MMORPG developed by ArenaNET, published by NCsoft and the sequel to Guild Wars. This game will not be a subscription game. It will follow the original Guild Wars and be a buy to play based game.

• Status: Closed Beta Weekend for invited members of the press has ended. Open Beta is rumored to be starting in March. No confirmed release date as of yet.

  Coverage of the Closed Press Beta: Clicky!

I've just been watching a video of the Beta (link) and it looks gorgeous! I think this is the first MMO other than WoW that's ever interested me. The graphics really appeal to me...they don't seem to have the dull realistic style like so many other games try (which I don't care for myself). It also has a nice varied fantasy setting, which is perfect as I don't like Sci-Fi/Space themes. I'll definitely be checking it out at least, it would be neat to get my hands on a Beta key some how.

Since there's no subscription I'd certainly play it alongside WoW if I enjoy it. ^^

This 100%. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I actually don't know much about Guild Wars at all, and I was completely not paying attention to GW2 info as I never really bothered to look in to it. It was just that video I linked in my previous post that had me go "Oh hey...this actually looks good." So now I'm very interested in trying it.

And the Ranger sounds perfect.

I proberly will play this as it's free (man reason I only play 1 mmo at a time) But I know I'm going to nerd rage when ever I see what they call Moas

I'm leaving WoW for it. I don't have the time investment for two MMO's since I'll end up neglecting one. Plus I've had my fill of WoW.

I am definitely going Norn Ranger. Also, updated with a link to character introduction cinematics.

Yeah but I only nerd rage cos they look nothing like Moas and alot like terrorbirds XD Silly I know but I'm from NZ and they are a big deal

Ya the moas in GWs look nothing like real moas. Big point, they have wings! Moas are the only flightless bird that realized "I'm not using these wings for anything. F them!" and lost them though evolution.

But more on the topic at hand, I'm finding myself agreeing with Vephriel. This is also the only other MMO besides WoW that has peaked my interest and I might try out. Especially if I can have my Hahadori by my side, even if she looks a bit... different.

That thread sounds a bit too crazy for me You forgot to add "then the Maoris ate them all" XD But still even with that I'll give the game a shot! first MMO with that "realistic" style I kinda like the look off!

I got sent an email today to sign up for Beta which I did. We shall see if I get in. Doubt it but it'd be nice. I've always loved Guild Wars.

There's only a 48 hour window to get in for now. I assume this is first phase of the Beta and they'll open it up to more people later on. However, this brings it's release date even closer. =D

Under a closed beta with a NDA in place, people getting into the betas probably won't be allowed to post pics until they decide to lift the NDA.

Also signed up so here's hoping to get into one of the beta sessions.

I'm getting more and more interested in trying this game. The Charr are the only race I'm even slightly inclined to play, but the thought of a Charr ranger is thrilling.

I'm right there with you, Lupis. I've never played GW before. Though I'm leaning towards the Sylvari.
