It'd be pretty silly to remove those mechanics when they have stopped griefing so well. Especially since if I'm reading this right, any melee could kill Degu without much trouble.

WOndering if there's a blue porcupine now... Well, now my stables are going to explode. 2-3 new spirit beasts, and my OCD says I need ot tame them all. >_<
I've been searching for the blue one for a while now. Kicked me off again so I'm done for now. Would be cool to wake up and see someone found him :)

Nope, he still hits incredibly hard with melee. He's a dead zone tame. It's in the first post. :)

And yes, they can be killed, but with such a short respawn time and ridiculously hard hits, it's not worth it to grief people. If anything, it'd be a challenge kill that yields nothing except pride.

Yay! I'm going to tame all three and name the Nayru, Din, and Farore.

Until it hits live, I wouldn't consider the spawn times as final. In both 5.1 and Beta, the spawn times were vastly shorter than they were on live. :P

Just seems like it'd suck to finally find one of them, only to see it getting killed, after all the progress they've done on helping make them non-griefable. All it would take is taunting/attacking the red one to kill the hunter. The green one can be done the same, by dragging them out of the hunter's slows.

Though, I have to ask...

Can you cheat and have a druid spamming entangling roots on them while you whittle down their health?

Heeere's Gumi!

He sits still in the mountains exactly where my arrow is sitting. From what we can tell, he doesn't heal or do ranged attacks, but the terrain around him is awful to navigate.

I tamed the first blue shortly after finding him. :) Definitely doesn't heal or do any ranged damage. His challenge is all in the environment. Didn't quite manage a tamed pic due to the server crash, but I did snag a screenie of the tame itself!

No one said they were final spawn timers. :) Just what they're at right now.

If someone taunts/attacks either of them, they're going to have to kite them until they die or the beast does. It's not like Deth'tilac, where anything in melee range could grief the hunter; this is going to take work.

Until a druid physically tries it, we won't know. The trio does not respond to all abilities the same way, though; only Hutia can be scattered, for example. No one's tried a root yet; they were just discovered.

Kalli, if you want, I can download the PTR and bring my druid, Jetfyre, over. :O We can test this theory.

Sounds good! Hope you don't mind crashing horribly every five minutes. :D (This is not the most stable of builds.)

I'm used to it cause my net likes to give me the big FU from time to time. xD

Downloading it now as we speak. Jetfyre is Alliance. I'll also bring Junrei over.

Thanks to Druidicas, we now know that Gumi and Degu are immune to Entangling Roots, but Hutia isn't!

Thanks for the offer, though, Junrei! :D

First post now updated with maps.

For anyone who likes pet naming trivia:

Degus and Hutias are both relatively obscure real-world rodents. Quick search suggests that Gumi doesn't fit this pattern, though. Perhaps a tribute to a departed pet of a Blizzard staff member? Or it could... just be a name. >_> Your guess is as good as mine.

I have pet degus myself. They're gorgeous creatures and I suspect I may have to tame the WoW version once 5.2 hits live. :D

That was me (Druidicas), sorry about doing what you were going to do :/ I was trying to tame them on my hunter and failing since I can't kite, so I thought back to Solix and how I got a druid to root for me and wanted to see if that would work. At least we know now though :)

Actually, Gumi is a type of silverberry shrub. From what I've researched, silverberries can be a source of food for porcupines.
