Alyssía's Icepaw Bear! (FINAL POLL)

I'm looking for names for my Icepaw Bear, Whos' Male.

I was thinking maybe something Old Norse or Scandinavian? I called my Frostworg Loki (for his associations with wolves).

I'm open to anything though.

Frigid and Chilled.

First thing that came to my mind.

Heimdall and Volstaag...the former being the warrior who guards the bridge from Earth to Asgard and the later being a huge warrior who enjoys his "roundness" as much as his battling. I know both characters are from the old Thor comics. More serious names would be Loki and Hogun, both legitimate Norse gods.

Scandinavian ey?

Varg, hjamgrimmr, fastsarj, smörja
Björn, trimrstuf, ygframmr

All made up, except for Varg and Björn, that's swedish for wolf and bear, respectively. I'm just not that into Norse mythology.

Thanks for the ideas guys!

Hmm... I like the name Loki for my wolf, It makes sense.

Bjorn is a name I thought of, being Norwegian, but maybe it's a little too obvious?

Keep the names coming! I'm still interested to see what people think of.

"I know both characters are from the old Thor comics." Well, considering A LOT of their information came directly from Norse Mythology, I see no problem with this =)

Anyone have any ideas for a name for my Icepaw Bear?

I've chosen Loki for my Frostworg, So I was thinking maybe Odin, Or maybe Thor is more fitting, as he has associations with bear.

What do you think?

Odin might work. Could always mix it up or something though...

Odeen, Nido, etc.

Thorim is the name of a titan in Ulduar, maybe name your bear Thorin?

Well im a dane so maybe Tuborg for your bear? :D always been my favorite beer.

Arcadius: Latin form of Greek Arkadios, meaning "of Arcadia." The place name Arcadia was derived from the word arktos, meaning "bear."

Ásbjorn: Old Norse name composed of the elements áss "god, divinity" and bjorn "bear," hence "divine-bear."

Pridbjørn: Old Danish name composed of the Old Norse elements prýðr "magnificent, stately" and bjørn "bear," hence "magnificent bear." Equated with Slavic Pridbor ("foremost warrior").

Uzumati: Native American Miwok name meaning "bear."

My husband always calls his bears for Ufda, refearing to the danish word uf, which is a noice you make when u are uncomfortable. He calls his pet Ufda cause it is uncomfortable for the enimies to get hit by it :)

Another good name for a bear is Numsi. I always thougth that bears had the biggest bum off all the pets... and the danish polite(children) word for bum is Numse... but that sounded stupid so bears to me became know as Numsi :P

My own bear is called Ludo... Again my husbands fault :D. In Ludo you get "slain" home when an opponenet moves to the same space that your brick is on. My husband used to say Ludo, everytime his priest got "slain" of his mount and had to walk.. i loved the name, so i named my bear Ludo :D

Hahah, the less serious names are brilliant. I'm Norwegian, and every time I slipped or hurt myself, my Mum would say 'uf, da.'

Maybe I should call him Bamse Bjorn?

My favourite more serious name so far is Asbjorn, I'd actually though of it before, but a couple of friends told me not to.

Maybe I should ignore them. ^^

Hahah, I should totally yell 'GRIS!' every time my pet kills someone.

Ufda is so funny.. and it grows on me.. everytime i see a white bear in wow its an ufda... cause my husbands bear is white.. all other bears i refers to as Numsi :P im mental :D

Added a Poll! Final names, unless I hear one that I adore. Which would have to be pretty awesome, because I love these three names.

Someone had to do it. I'm the one, willing to take the blow to my ego, to steep down and be that immature.

I totally agree, Ryno, I just didn't want to be the one that did it. xD

Hmm, it looks like Asbjorn is winning at the moment...

If it was a girl, I would name her Skadi, after the Norse goddess of winter and the hunt!

It would be a perfect name, people don't realize that skadi the ruthless is named after her.

In fact, most of the blue people in the storm peaks/icecrown are named after norse mythology.
